Michael Tong Jokes About His Age, Clarifies Dating Rumors
Looking fit and fantastic for 48, Michael Tong (唐文龍) shared some his beauty and fit-keeping secrets with the press at yesterday’s beauty event. He emphasized the importance of looking young and put-together as an actor, joking that even when he had no money, he would buy a 4-pack facial mask for HK$100.
Asking if his reason for keeping fit is to attract young girls, the 48-year-old Heart and Greed <溏心風暴3> actor laughed and said, “I’m still not married yet, so I should keep up with my figure. As an actor it’s important to maintain your looks. It’s an extra bargaining chip.”
Michael then used this opportunity to clarify his dating rumors with 25-year-old actress and TV presenter Mandy Wong Man-yi (黃文意), who is said to be using her rumors with Michael to get popular. Michael stressed that he’s still single, saying, “We were never together in the first place. These rumors definitely gave us more stress than necessary. Mandy doesn’t need anyone to get popular, nor am I qualified to be that person. She is already seen as a goddess by many, and a college graduate. She doesn’t need anyone, and I hope everyone can just let her go.”
The actor said he never considered a relationship with her. “It’s not because I don’t like her, so don’t make it sound like I hate her! Just because she’s a female friend doesn’t mean we’ll date. There’s nothing to develop beyond friendship. I want to focus on my career in the meantime.” Asking if Michael would consider dating a much younger woman, he said, “I don’t know. Let’s see what happens.”
Michael added that his rumors with Mandy led a fascination for the media to report about his age. He joked, “Now all of Hong Kong knows how old I am. I’m angry!”
