Michelle Chen and Chen Xiao Confirm Divorce
After months of speculation, Chinese actress Michelle Chen (陳妍希) and actor Chen Xiao (陳曉) confirmed the end of their 8-years of marriage and announced their divorce.
On February 18th, the couple issued a joint statement on their social media and wrote, “Grateful for meeting each other. I wish you well in the future. As parents of our child, we will continue to watch our child grow up.”
When the rumors of the ex-couple’s failing marriage was first leaked, Chinese paparazzi Zhuo Wei (卓偉) shared that Chen Xiao was determined to divorce, but said, “I can’t reveal the [reason for the divorce], it would be too shocking to say it.”
Zhuo Wei added that Chen Xiao suddenly filed for divorce in August of last year, immediately packed his bag and left home. Chen Xiao reportedly took drastic actions and blocked Michelle on WeChat and phone. The two parties ended up only contacting each other through a mutual friend. When Michelle visited Chen Xiao on his filming set, Chen Xiao reportedly avoided Michelle.
Now that the divorce is official, Zhuo Wei spoke out on the ex-couple’s relationship and revealed, “I think the main reason for more than 90% of marriages separation is boiled down to just three words: ‘change of heart.’”
Zhuo Wei added that the ex-couple had been separated for more than two years, and when Michelle’s father passed away, Chen Xiao did not attend the funeral. Zhuo Wei commented, “I knew in my heart that it was indeed impossible to save the relationship.”
Many fans express their regret at the ex-couple’s marriage and recall that Chen Xiao once made a comment on his outlook on marriages before he got married. In the show, Chen Xiao said that he would be cautious about getting married: “I don’t want to just get married.
