Miriam Yeung Has No Time to Play With Son This Summer

Like most other parents, Miriam Yeung (杨千嬅) treasures spending time with her child. While accepting an interview at a Hong Kong arts exhibition, she revealed feeling guilty that she is unable to accompany her young son, Torres, throughout summer this year. Miriam’s work schedule is packed in the next couple of months, and she hopes she would receive a break to celebrate Christmas with her family.

Miriam expressed that she places high emphasis on her son’s ability to communicate with others. Therefore, she has registered Torres in many hobbies for the summertime. Her top choices were sports activities such as basketball and tennis, because it allows Torres to build teamwork skills while taking lessons with peers.

Miriam had been ill earlier and pushed back a lot of work, including shooting advertisements and appearing on a reality television show. Thus, everything has been rescheduled to take place in July, August, and September. Miriam is upset that she is unable to spend much time with her son, since she believes parents should always stay by their child’s side as they grow up. “I feel extremely guilty. I will look at his school agenda and schedule my work according to it. I want to spend as much time with him as possible”, she said.

Torres could tell when his mother is about to leave for work. Miriam revealed that he would appear teary-eyed whenever he sees her putting on makeup or packing her luggage. As a result, she would often be late because she was too sad to leave him behind. Torres is greatly attached to Miriam, and would over for a hug each time she comes home from work. Meanwhile, when his father asks him for a kiss, he would reject and ask him to kiss the domestic helper first.
