Miriam Yeung Gets Along Well with Mother-in-Law
Known for her boisterous and uninhibited persona, Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅) is feisty and blunt. In reality, the 45-year-old singer-actress is actually a very easy-going person. Not only does she maintain a good relationship with her coworkers, but she also gets along well with her in-laws.
On a recent Chinese reality television show, Miriam shared about her first time having dinner with her husband Real Ting’s (丁子高) family. “The Ting family have a lot of rules. Even when having dinner, you have to sit straightly. You can definitely tell that Real is a rich second generation. The first time I went to eat with his family, Allen Ting (丁子峻) was there also. I’ve known him for 25 years and didn’t know he was Real’s cousin!”
While many women have difficulty seeing eye-to-eye with their mother-in-laws, Miriam expressed that she actually gets along well with Real’s mother. Miriam had actually lived together with Real’s mother for two years. Although she was nervous about the arrangement at first, Miriam was surprised to learn that she and her mother-in-law share many similar hobbies. Miriam recalled, “My mother-in-law would sing karaoke every day until 4:00 a.m. in the morning!”
As Miriam is one of Hong Kong’s most recognized singers, many felt that Real was very fortunate to have met and married her. Real recently shared an expressive and sweet post about Miriam, writing, “[I am someone who] loves you and understands you. Even if you have tens of thousands of people who love you, it is not comparable to having just one person understand you.”
Behind the scenes, however, Miriam expressed that she is extremely grateful to have married Real. Perhaps it is the mutual recognition and appreciation of one another that makes Miriam and Real’s 10-year marriage thrive.
