Moviegoers Eager for Xiao Zhan’s “The Legend of the Condor Heroes”

Renowned author Jin Yong’s (金庸) wuxia novels have been adapted into television dramas and movies for decades. Despite multiple adaptations, The Legend of the Condor Heroes <射鵰英雄傳> will be made into a big-screen production by esteemed director Tsui Hark (徐克). The new movie stars Sean Xiao Zhan (肖戰) and Sabrina Zhuang Dafei (庄达菲) as main characters Guo Jing and Huang Rong.  

Although The Legend of the Condor Heroes <射鵰英雄傳: 俠之大者> is currently in post-production, the movie garnered much online discussion. With Tsui Hark’s reputation for martial arts films, fans are excited to see what new chemistry, choreography, and cinematography he can bring to the adaptation. On online movie ticket distribution platform Taopiaopiao, 200,000 people have already indicated interest to watch the movie.

For his role, Xiao Zhan trained hard to get in tip-top shape and deliberately gained 20 pounds. On the other hand, Sabrina faced immense pressure in playing Huang Rong. Coupled with Tsui Hark’s notoriously high standards and tendency to scold actors on the spot, Sabrina was allegedly reduced to tears under the stress and pressure.
