“My Commissioned Lover” Spoilers: It Gets Dark

The TVB drama My Commissioned Lover <婚姻合伙人> has entered its last week of broadcast, and what was once described to be a comedic romance has now become dark and unexpected.
On Monday’s episode, Gus (Mat Yeung 楊明) finds his marriage with Kimchi (Samantha Ko 高海寧) to be at risk after he mistakenly assumes that Kimchi was having any affair with Ying Hei (Kenny Wong 黃德斌). In reality, Ying Hei had sexually assaulted Kimchi, who was trying to stop his advances. Ying Hei also finds out that Ruby (Kirby Lam 林秀怡) is his actual birth daughter.
Soon afterwards, Kimchi discovers that she is pregnant, likely a result from rape. Her sister-in-law Shun (Roxanne Tong 湯洛雯), who has always admired Ying Hei, is heartbroken to know that the baby could be his. In a drunken stupor, she confesses her feelings to Ying Hei and about Kimchi’s pregnancy. Ying Hei wants a life with Kimchi, but she expresses her intentions to go through an abortion.
