Nancy Wu Once Played Two Different Roles for the Same Drama
Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) and Nancy Wu (胡定欣) made an appearance together for the press conference of Shaw Brothers Holdings on Thursday. The onscreen couple actively campaigned for Shaw Brothers to green-light a movie version for their hit drama A Fist Within Four Walls <城寨英雄>, which pulled in some of the highest numbers for TVB in recent years.
“We don’t know if it’s coming true, but we’ve always said we wanted a movie version for A Fist Within Four Walls,” said Nancy. Asking if she would be worried that the audiences would be bored of her partnership with Ruco Chan, Nancy said, “Not that soon! I’m actually very happy that the audiences like us. Having a good onscreen partner is really hard to come by.”
Ruco, who has appeared in a number of movies in the past, said he is interested in filming more movies with TVB and Shaw Brothers in the future. “I’m interested in trying new things, more things. It’s great to have to so many opportunities to choose from.” (When would you be free to do a movie though?) “Anytime! Carol Cheng (鄭裕玲) once earned the name ‘Nine films Cheng’. It’s possible!” Nancy added, “Only if there were 36 hours in a day!”
Asking if Ruco had any experiences of doing several films or dramas at the same time, Ruco said with a laugh, “Yes. There was a time when I shot three dramas at the same time, but that was right after graduating [TVB’s] acting class. After standing in as an extra for one drama, I glued a wig and stood as an extra for another drama! And got decapitated!”
Nancy had a similar experience, and shared, “For me, it was two. I played two different characters for Virtues of Harmony <皆大歡喜>. My first role was a fat lady, and the next moment I had to play an office secretary. I told the crew that I already played a fat lady for the show, but they told me that people wouldn’t recognize me anyways!” (The tragic origin stories for TV King and TV Queen!) “It’s not tragic. It was an experience. A fun, memorable experience.
Ruco joked, “Not bad though! Most girls from acting class would usually get their first roles as brothel workers!”

wow Nancy Wu played such role in Virtue of Harmony … I don’t remember seeing her at all, I guess she wasn’t popular still. lol
tired of this pairing…why can’t they pair ruco with a sweet girl like tracy chu?
@janet72 Truly, why don’t they do that?
@janet72
Because Tracy Chu is busy studying and they want to milk the popularity of this couple.
They have fun stories to share 😀 . I like their stories
hope tvb stops casting nancy wu, edwin siew and grace chan. in ‘4 walls’, nancy was cast as a killer. she did ok. now she is filming another drama as a bodyguard? i like to see sweet faces who don’t irritate or shout.
@janet72
I agree. Perhaps other than Nancy, TVB could try to pair Ruco with Grace Wong as couple…or with sweeties like Eliza Sum or Rebecca Zhu.
@diana80 no thx! Pair with sweeties who cant act??? You gotta be kidding! He’s done enough baby sitting already!
@isay nancy wu is so masculine. ruco and grace pairing would be nice.
@janet72 who says she’s masculine? In person she’s small and petite and is sexy in her own ways though she may not have an hour glass figure. She’s probably sexier than you.without having to try half as hard . I’m beginning to like her more and more as i see her interaction with her fans. She looks like an outgoing bubbly person with a hearty laugh, much better than those fake sweetie pies.
