Nancy Wu’s Specially Crafted Looks in “Rosy Business 4”
Helmed by gold medal screenwriter Zhang Huabiao (張華標), the anticipated companion piece to TVB’s successful espionage drama series, No Return <巾幗梟雄之懸崖> (aka Rosy Business 4) finally dropped its first trailer in anticipation of its upcoming premier.
Powerful Quotes From FL & ML
The Republican era drama stars actor Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) as business wizard “Chai Shi Qi” and actress Nancy Wu (胡定欣) as Deng Gui Chan or “Seventh Master”, a strong businesswoman and influential figure in Shanghai’s banking industry.
Filled with dramatic explosions, gunfighting and screaming scenes, the teaser trailer continued the tradition of previous trailers showcasing memorable quotes from the leading cast. “Everyone gets chills when they hear the sound of my high heels”, said Nancy’s character, reflecting Seventh Master’s domineering position and social status, while Wayne’s “If I say the stock rises, the stock will rise; if I say the copper price falls, the copper price will fall” expressed Chai Shi Qi’s brilliant foresight.
Mirroring Lau Sing and Cheng Kau Mui’s encounter in Rosy Business 2, Nancy and Wayne’s characters this season will undergo a tumultuous life-and-death romance, repeatedly experiencing misunderstandings, separation, and loss. Chai Shi Qi’s words ‘If we live, we live together; if we die, we die together,’ also displays a deeply emotional side.
Reflecting Aesthetics of 1930s Shanghai
One of the art directors for Lust, Caution<色,戒>, Sai-wan Lau (劉世運) had specially crafted Nancy’s elegant, noble imaging in the drama, with thirty different “Old Shanghai” looks to complement her domineering aura.
He also took care to distinguish her look with various hats matching her outfits. Lau explains, “Wearing a hat not only adds elegance and nobility but also represents the Western gentlemanly culture of the 1930s, a crowning glory in social settings.”
As for Wayne, he can finally break away from his previous working-class look this season, where he rises to become a prominent figure in Shanghai’s business world – most of his outfits are sharp and sophisticated, with special care paid to the details of his wardrobe.
Due to the sheer quantity which needed to be tailored, the costuming unit literally ad to work on the character’s outfits simultaneously as filming was ongoing, in a bold and unprecedented approach.

though nancy is a great actress but not at the same level as sheren and plus, this show seems so forceful, like they are forcing the plot and storyline to happen just to emulate the effects of the first two installments. maybe too early to say, i hope this show is a good one. tvb needs to put out a good one for change
8 years since the last one, that’s crazy long. Wayne Lai oddball getting any younger. Not sure why another Rosy business was needed but hopefully it’s not as bad as no. 3.
