Netizens Support Rosina Lam To Be Leading Actress
Rosina Lam’s (林夏薇) performance in the TVB drama Momentary Lapse of Reason <收規華> is earning praises from netizens. Momentary Lapse of Reason, a drama about corrupt cops in 1930’s Hong Kong, was not a ratings hit when it aired this summer, but the series was a critical success for many Hong Kong TV-goers, with some saying that it is one of the best dramas of the year.
With many TVB “first-line” leading actresses leaving the station for greener pastures elsewhere, TVB is finding the need to promote rookie actresses to take over the reigns left by their predecessors. As a result, 2013 Miss Hong Kong winners Grace Chan (陳凱琳), Sisley Choi (蔡思貝), and Moon Lau (劉佩玥), as well as 2012 Miss Hong Kong winners Tracy Chu (朱千雪) and Jacqueline Wong (黃心穎), are being heavily promoted by TVB.
But what has been catching the netizens’ eye are not the MHK beauties, but Rosina Lam, Raymond Lam’s (林峯) younger cousin. The Beijing Central Academy of Drama alumnus has been making rounds on message boards ever since the broadcast of Momentary Lapse of Reason this summer. A thread posted at a Hong Kong discussion forum asked netizens if they would like to see Rosina become a first-line actress, to which many netizens posted in support of Rosina.
After graduating from the Beijing Central Academy of Drama in 2009, Rosina joined the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre as a stage actress. In 2011, she became a managed TVB artiste and debuted in the TVB drama Til Love Do Us Lie <結·分@謊情式>, receiving positive reviews.
Many netizens agreed that Rosina’s acting has improved vastly in the last four years and that she also carries the aura of a leading lady. They praised Rosina for being a low-profile celebrity with a healthy image. Rosina’s powerful performance in Momentary Lapse of Reason impressed many viewers, with some saying that she even outshone the drama’s lead actress, Tavia Yeung (楊怡).
However, some netizens are concerned that Rosina’s recent marriage would impede her development in the entertainment industry. Because her husband is not an entertainer, he may not understand industry’s culture and environment. Nonetheless, some netizens noted that if the married Kristal Tin (田蕊妮) was able to win TV Queen after so many years, so can Rosina.

Idk about outshine TY in acting department. It’s just that RL’s character was more interesting with more depth in compare to TY’s. Poor TY, her characters have been sucky lately l. I’m not critizing her axting, so you fans can chill. She’s like the female version of Moses where he gets all this weird yet talented in his quirky ways character and she gets all these goody, one dimension, and boring ones. TVB needs better script writers!
@jjwong Agreed. I definitely think Rosina did a wonderful job, but a lot of it is definitely owed to the fact that her character was much more interesting and with more depth. Poor Tavia has been getting the worst roles lately, and all of them are the same. Hopefully they’ll give her some more dynamic roles!
Isn’t Tavia gone?
i really enjoyed MLOR, it was surprisingly good for tvb’s standards this year. and rosina really did do a good job, her and matt both. i was pretty impressed. hope they both get heavier roles in the future!
@hkeni it was a really good drama, too bad it didn’t get higher ratings
@panda i agree! i wish it received better ratings!

She is one of the better accesses from this new generation and definitely needs to be promoted to leading fadan in better productions. Grand productions.
MSLOR is one of the best dramas this year . Hope Rosina gets more recognition from TVB and hope they cast her in more dramas!!!!!
single male actors fear to have their love lives published…female ones even more. now that she is married, it would be difficult for rosina to be fadan.
