New Chinese Idol Drama to Star Yang Chaoyue and Xu Kaicheng
Rocket Girls 101 (火箭少女101) member Yang Chaoyue (杨超越) will be headlining her own television drama, starring opposite Well-Intended Love <奈何BOSS要娶我> star Xu Kaicheng (徐开骋).
Shen Yi Huang Hou <神医凰后>, roughly translated to “Doctor Phoenix” is a time-traveling historical romance about Huang Wu, who lost her “phoenix blood” after getting blind sighted, becoming virtually powerless. In the 21st century, traditional Chinese medicine student Meng Yuan (Yang Chaoyue) travels back in time and becomes Huang Wu, who now realizes that she is stuck in a marriage contract with Jun Linyuan (Xu Kaicheng).
The romantic comedy is adapted from the online fiction of the same name, written by Su Xiaoyuan (苏小暖).
According to reports, Yang’s bandmate Jinna Fu (傅菁) and The Untamed <陈情令> actor Wang Haoxuan (王皓軒) will star in secondary lead roles.
Yang Chaoyue has previously starred in the drama Midsummer Is Full of Hearts <仲夏满天心>, the Chinese remake of the Korean manhwa Full House.
