Nicky Wu and Cecilia Liu’s Married Life Consists of Coffee and Reading
Taiwanese actor Nicky Wu (吳奇隆) returned to his motherland to promote his latest television drama The Legend of Zu <蜀山戰紀之劍俠傳奇>, which will make its network premiere in Taiwan through CTV. Nicky went on Lu Hsiu-fang’s (盧秀芳) talk show to discuss the drama.
The Legend of Zu is a Chinese wuxia television series based on the dark fantasy novel Sword Warriors of Mount Zu <蜀山劍俠傳>, written from 1930 to 1949. Nicky plays the novel’s main villain Green Cape, father of the female lead, Yu Wuxin. The show aired in China last year to ratings success.
While joking that he has now been promoted to the level of fatherhood in his roles, Nicky nonetheless expressed his glee at the opportunity for playing a villain. The 45-year-old, who married Chinese actress Cecilia Liu (劉詩詩) earlier this year, shared that if he does become a father in the future, he would not be like Green Cape.
“I’ll be more like a cat dad,” said Nicky, referring to the tiger mom vs. cat dad parenting styles from last year’s popular Chinese television series Tiger Mom <虎媽貓爸>. “I’m lenient. I think I’ll end up giving my kids a lot of freedom.”
Asking if his life has changed after marrying Cecilia in March, the actor said, “Honestly, nothing really changed. It’s not like what people think it is.”
The couple continued to work and continued to lead busy lives, but what did change, was their down time.
“We like to just sit quietly together and drink coffee, read books,” said Nicky.
Back in June, a few netizens spotted Nicky and Cecilia at the Frankfurt Airport in Germany, waiting in line to board home. A netizen snapped a few pictures of Cecilia bending down and rolling up Nicky’s pants. Many fans found the gesture sweet and gave many positive responses to the photos.
Nicky said, “They’re all normal things we do for each other. When her shirt is crinkled, I’ll adjust it. When I see her holding something heavy, I’ll help her hold it. We take care of each other.”
From being an athlete, to a singer, to Yongzheng, and finally to a television producer, Nicky has been in the industry for nearly thirty years. “If I didn’t get into this field, I’ll probably end up being a physical education teacher,” he said. The Legend of Zu actor added that he’s always been a very physically active person and maintains the habit of exercising everyday, incorporating it into his lifestyle.
“Exercise has taught me many things when I was a child,” he said. “Exercising can be really difficult, but once you build that foundation, it will become much easier for you. This is a very important concept to learn.”

As long as they are happy with each other – if they are hanging out with each other drinking coffe & reading books that would fine also. Simple life can be happy, too.
