Nicky Wu’s Biggest Change As a Father

Nicky Wu (吳奇隆) and Cecilia Liu (刘诗诗) welcomed their son “Bubu” in April 2019. The new father currently stars in Chinese reality show Wonderful Little Forest <奇妙小森林>, along with Zheng Shuang (郑爽), Steven Zhang (张新成), and Seven Tan (谭松韵). The show tasks them with taking care of a group of strangers’ children. Encouraging the participants to connect with nature, they are engaged in outdoor activities and asked to put away their electronics.

As the only cast member with experience taking care of children, Nicky shared his thoughts as a new father. “My focus in life has completely changed. I used to prioritize work, but now I have to work around my child’s schedule. [I] worry about him 24 hours a day, no matter if the issue is small or big.” He lamented that he now understands how difficult it is to be a parent, but he is really enjoying the journey.

On the show, Nicky shared some tips on how to interact with children since he has learned how to carry a baby with one hand, how to make baby formula, and how to wash a baby and change diapers. Once Nicky heard his son make a sound that sounded like he was calling him “Daddy,” but later realized that this was just wishful thinking and his son was not at the stage to understand what he was saying yet.
