Niki Chow and Bosco Wong Banter Like Siblings

Friends for over 20 years, Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) and Niki Chow’s (周勵淇) dynamic is like bickering siblings. The first time they worked together was in 2006 TVB drama Under the Canopy of Love <天幕下的戀人>. Now they paired up again for movie The Unwavering Brotherhood <紮職3>.

Acting together again brought back a lot of memories. Bosco joked that he was perplexed why they were never romantically linked while filming Under the Canopy of Love, “Niki is everyone’s goddess. How could I not admire her? I can only look from afar, haha! I would try to get her to talk to me. The second time we worked together was on A Change of Heart <好心作怪>. We knew each other better and our interactions got crazier.”

Niki joked their drama days were ages ago and if they mentioned the filming year, her arthritis would act up. She stated that Bosco has not changed at all, “He still has a childlike innocence inside which is great–it keeps us happy.” Prompted that Bosco finds Niki still looking like a young girl, she responded, “We need to keep up appearances in this industry. Although my age is no longer categorized as a young girl, but it’s important to stay young at heart. This way, you’ll have motivation to keep slim and appear prettier. Bosco is also very fit himself!”

Netizens praised Bosco for being very handsome in the movie and Niki agreed and joked that he is a good catch. Bosco honestly shared that he has never thought of starting a family and will not find a wife just to take care of his mother, “I can just hire a domestic helper. My mom is super active and constantly on vacation; I don’t even know where she is.”

As the new movie is mainly focused on the male characters, Niki’s storyline is limited. Asked if she was giving up roles that just emphasized on looks, Niki replied, “I’ve acted in roles where the characters weren’t pretty. Acting is acting, it’s not reality. We keep ourselves in good shape so the outcome is good.” She’s also open to acting as a see lai, “I’m also one myself. Anyone that takes care of their children and buys groceries is a see lai. It depends on what the definition is. Mothers nowadays have their careers and own lives. Being a mother is not just limited to cooking. So see lai is not a derogatory term, I can do it!”

Since they have filmed together so many times, would they be open to singing together? Bosco immediately declined, “I don’t enjoy singing and I don’t need to do it for money. I would still decline if an event asked me to sing, even if they offered ten times the fee!” Niki disclosed her company had suggested releasing an album, but she declined as she was worried no one would buy it.
