Niki Chow Still Believes in True Love
Although Niki Chow and Kevin Cheng have gone separate ways, Niki still reacted strongly when Kevin’s name was brought up in a recent radio interview. However, she said she did not have the power to stop TVB from arranging future onscreen partnerships with Kevin.
On Cha Siu Yan’s radio program, Niki wore a bright shining diamond chain. Niki explained, “This is a birthday present from my family. I am not particularly fond of diamonds, but this is a small reward for myself. Although no man has ever given me a gift valued over $10k (HKD), does this mean I am not worth it? I am not afraid to date again; I still believe in true love. I wish to have a happy family and have a pair of boy-girl fraternal twins. I do not want to have children without marrying first. A father’s presence is needed in a healthy home.”
Did Niki request that TVB halt future onscreen partnerships with Kevin? “Wah, I do not have so much power. I will not do such a thing. I will not engage in false dating rumors [to promote myself]; I believe in dating the person you are interested in.”
Will Niki take the initiative to break up with a dating partner? “I will be very decisive and look at what happened in the relationship and give each other the opportunity to explain. As for future relationships, it does not matter whether he works in the entertainment industry or not. As long as he is a good person, that is sufficient. However, in 2009, I will focus my career and will let destiny run its course regarding dating matters.”
As a Honorary Emotional Health Action Ambassador, Niki attended a second-hands clothes drive with Kevin’s cousin, Vinci Wong yesterday. “I donated two bags clothing earlier. I have a lot of clothes at home. Earlier, my sister, Kathy and I tried to run a second-hand clothes business, but it was a lot of hard work. Now I am more cautious on clothes purchases; I’ll rather save my money for other purposes. I do not want to use the savings to buy a spinster home; I want to get married and have a warm family!”
The recent financial crisis did not add to Niki’s emotional troubles. “Fortunately, I did not suffer any large financial losses. However, there will be unhappy moments throughout life. When I am unhappy, I will discuss problems with friends. But I do not want to worry my family.” Does Niki not even discuss dating problems with family? “A relationship is between two people, it is difficult to even speak about it with my sister, Kathy. Perhaps crying is the best remedy. I have experienced a lot of unhappy events.”
Does Niki encourage Kevin Cheng and rumored girlfriend, Charmaine Sheh to engage in charity events? “I will not answer that question.”
Vinci Wong donated more than 200 pieces of clothing for the charity event. “I have never worn some of the clothes! One jacket cost $10k (HKD) which is completely new; it is quite heartbreaking! I bought these clothes due to earlier onscreen use.”
Jayne: Niki still sounds very hurt from the breakup with Kevin Cheng. Never knew this pair was truly dating until post-breakup. I really thought that their relationship was just for publicity reasons.
