Opportunities Didn’t Come Easy For Hera Chan

Hera Chan (陳曉華) was offered many filming opportunities after being crowned Miss Hong Kong 2018. Enjoying an abundance of opportunities, Hera felt herself become lackadaisical, believing chances came easily. This mindset changed after starring in her first lead role in Used Good (異搜店) and went a year without any subsequent projects.
Reflecting on this, Hera admitted, “People aren’t perfect. I think one of my shortcomings is my mentality. After Miss Hong Kong, I immediately had filming projects. I thought I’d already worked hard enough, but actually I just didn’t know how to appreciate things. I reflected a lot during that period of time and understood that opportunities aren’t going to be just handed to you.”
Recalling when she was filming Call of Destiny <異空感應>, Hera only slept four hours each day for almost two months. One day, she felt so exhausted that she wanted to request a sick day in order to rest. Ultimately, she did not follow through with this. Crediting another seasoned actress for this, Hera said, “She told me that I was the female lead of this series and I should be carrying the load. If I felt tired, perhaps everyone else on set was also tired. After hearing this, it changed the way I think. No matter how tired I was, I reminded myself that this filming opportunity may be my last one so I should do my best.”
Hera was also thankful for producer Amy Wong (王心慰). Holding back tears, Hera shared, “She knew I was working hard and encouraged me to add oil and that I was worthy of being recognized as an actress and as a woman [for my efforts]. Being acknowledged for my hard work during that time really encouraged my journey. Since then, I don’t talk about how tired I am. I should put in hard work in order to achieve good results.”
In the coming year, Hera has several dramas lined up with Queen of News 2 <新聞女王2> as the most notable title. Hera will star as the main antagonist and face off against Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼). “I don’t feel any pressure about starring opposite Charmaine. I don’t know why, but when she’s around, it naturally makes you believe you have become the character. Her presence is very strong and she is able to bring you into character and the story. I hope to have more opportunities to work with her in the future.”
Besides Charmaine, Hera will also be able to work alongside other A-list stars, such as Roger Kwok (郭晉安), Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), Kenneth Ma (馬國明), and Nancy Wu (胡定欣) this year.
With a fruitful career on the rise, Hera and her alleged romance with Brian Chu (朱敏瀚) may be taking a backseat. Rumored to have broken up due to the pressure from TVB, Hera denied the company intruding on her personal life. Focusing on developing her professional career, Hera said, “I hope to have a relationship that will blossom and bear fruit, but I’m not in a hurry. Right now, I just want to work hard on my career first.”

I hope she’s not the main baddie against Charmaine…if so ooh boy. They should have casted Ali Lee, I think she would have done a great job as a villain.
They will never cast Ali Lee… as she is leaving already TVB, also, Ali is black list in China… All big TVB production is financing from China
I like Hera’s acting, she was very good in Call of Destiny,
Hope it’s true she’s not with Brian Chu, Hera. Deserves someone heaps better than him…
