“Pachinko” Airs to Positive Reviews
Based on the novel of the same name, Pachinko aired on Apple TV+ on March 25. The story chronicles the struggle to survive over four generations of a Korean immigrant family in Japan and stars some of South Korea’s most popular stars, including Lee Min Ho and Kim Min Ha. Already airing four episodes, the drama received positive reviews for its poignancy and beautifully shot sceneries.
Lee Min Ho, who stars as the drama’s male lead, Koh Hansu, is no stranger to large scale productions and high budget projects. The actor praised the drama’s production and use of nature for a beautifully organic backdrop for sceneries. His character is a wealthy businessman who conducts business using questionable tactics. Although easily irritable, he is deeply committed to the woman he loves.
On whether Lee Min Ho finds similarities between himself and his character, he replied, “I like the character’s decisiveness the most. He never hesitates. I am similar to him in this regards, and am always moving forward.”
Recalling their kiss scenes, Kim Min Ha praised Lee Min Ho for his professionalism and making her feel comfortable and relaxed. Their passionate kiss scene was not meant to only showcase lust, but was also depict their bond. Kim Min Ha laughed, “Since it was filmed in the winter time, it was cold and not romantic at all.”
