People Look On as Akina Hong Terrorizes Lan Kwai Fong

The cast of TVB’s new drama Sinister Beings <逆天奇案> were swarmed by fans and passersby as they filmed an action scene in Lan Kwai Fong earlier this week. Though the entire action sequence took two days to shoot, the passersby were extremely accommodating and polite toward the cast and crew.

“Our filming process was not affected at all,” said Rosina Lam (林夏薇), lead actress of Sinister Beings. “They only asked for photos after we stopped rolling. Everyone was very nice and wished us luck.”

The said scene guest stars Akina Hong (康華) as a distressed rape victim who sought thrill in terror. Haunted by her violent past, Akina developed an aggressive behavior that would intensify during moments of stress. She planted bombs in crowded areas and threw toxins in the air. The scene in Lan Kwai Fong was about the police arresting Akina for her crimes.

It was a difficult role for Akina to do. She explained, “A few days ago I shot a scene standing on a very narrow canopy ten stories high. I have a fear of heights, so I knew it would be a hard scene to do. Originally I planned on doing the scene myself, but after trying it a few times, I really couldn’t do it, so I had to get a body double.”

Not only does Akina have a fear of heights, but also motion sickness. “I even get sick riding the taxi. (What about flights?) I force myself to go on them. I had to take medication before to prepare.”

Akina had a great time collaborating with the cast of Sinister Beings. Prior to shooting her scene in Lan Kwai Fong, she invited the cast for drinks. “It’s a rare opportunity to see everyone in the same place and the same time, so I couldn’t miss the opportunity. We had a great time last night.”

Sinister Beings also stars Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) and Ben Wong (黃智賢). Principal photography will wrap up in February.
