Philip Ng’s Pride Was Hurt While Dating Linda Chung
Dating for eight years, Philip Ng (伍允龍) and his relationship with Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) was an open secret. Finally comfortable enough to talk about the past, Philip revealed that a contributing factor to their breakup in 2015 was the differences in their careers and status, and his pride was hurt while they were together.
Philip Felt Disrespected
Meeting on the set of Love is Not All Around <十分愛> in 2007, Philip and Linda began dating afterwards. As Linda was already a popular leading actress, tabloids magnified Philip’s status as a “struggling actor” and would often dub him as an “extra.”
On the latest episode of Bong Bong, Amigo! <諸朋好友>, Philip expressed his annoyance, “I had already starred in a lot of movies and tried my best.” Willing to risk his safety to perfect his action scenes, Philip felt he did not receive due respect from the media. “In From Vegas to Macau <賭城風雲>, I was hit by a car 25 times in one of the scenes I was filming. I also did a scene where I had to jump from the first floor of a building – I almost broke my leg that time, but no one knew. I didn’t complain either. I just didn’t understand why everyone’s focus was on a person’s status and their dating life!”
When asked why he did not give up on the relationship earlier, Philip said he was very happy with the relationship, but did feel upset for the public pressure they faced. Admitting that Linda had more pressure from TVB to keep their dating a secret, he understood her decision as she was very popular at the time. “I was a nobody! It’s like this [in the entertainment industry], but I felt it was overboard and I was the one ending up hurt.”
Philip said everything is in the past now, and he is grateful for a breakthrough role in A Fist Within Four Walls <城寨英雄>. Gaining more recognition for his acting and action choreography, Philip admitted that romance is still missing in his life. He is at the stage “where he is looking for a wife” and feels “crazy lonely” every day, but it is difficult to find the right woman.
Andy On Thanks Philip for Being Matchmaker
Also guesting on the talk show, Andy On (安志杰) opened up about his romance with Jennifer Tse (謝婷婷). Dating for four years, Andy was only known as “Jennifer’s boyfriend” due to her famous father Patrick Tse (謝賢). Post breakup, Andy was not interested in dating until meeting Jessica C. through Philip.
“I felt Jessica was a very beautiful woman, but maybe her personality would be fake or conceited like most models,” Andy thought upon meeting her initially. When Jessica took care of his dog and cat, Andy still wondered if she was only pretending to be nice.
However, visiting Jessica’s parents in Chicago made Andy realize she was the right woman for him. “That was when I knew she was the one I wanted to marry. She’s super kind, and has a natural motherly instinct. I thought she was very real and down-to-earth.” When he finally asked Jessica to marry him in the Maldives, the proposal was natural and intuitive. The couple has been married for five years and are still as loving as ever.

Gotta admit never cared for his acting. But gotta give the guy respect for not bad mouthing anyone. He seems like a pretty chill guy too from the video. Hope he finds someone soon.
To be frank, both these guys deserve respect in the entertainment industry, having been in quite challenging martial-arts roles………..It is great that they got rid of their ex’s – One being Linda Chung, and the other getting rid of Jennifer Tse, as both of these women are problematic and self-centered, and would not make good spouses……….Look at the idiotic-looking guy Linda Chung ended up with………Only a guy like that could stand someone like her…………LOL!
They both seem to be very hard workers for sure. While I respect Philip as a martial artist and his professionalism, he has a lot of growth to do in terms of acting. I think Andy On is a much better actor. I watched him in Ever Night, and I really liked how he portrayed his character as Chao Xiaoshu!
So that’s why he died in Fist Within Four Walls! It was a good ending, but it was so sad! What about Fist Fight? Why did he have to die in that one? It was so abrupt. 🙁
LOL is he serious, Linda is literally married with kids it’s time to move on. Bruised ego is not a good look.
My heart goes out to Philip, truly hope he finds love soon. Sad to hear of the way he was treated. Sounds like he and Linda had something special. Very sad they broke up.
I think Philip has no one to blame but his horrific acting skills. If he can’t fight, he shouldn’t even qualify to be acting as a extra.
I like Philip, but to be frank, he sounds immature. Ada Choi’s husband was a nobody, but he made a name for himself afterwards when they got married. I get that he felt he lost credit where it should be deserved, but he can always work towards that while still being with her. If anything, being with her raises his profile. Maybe he doesn’t want to use her name to increase his value, so he had to breakup to find himself and prove his worth to her, but that’s just dumb. In a relationship, you don’t need to prove anything to each other. It’s a partnership and you work together. She didn’t mind being with him in spite of the fame disparity, so why should he? What a wasted potential.
