Queenie Chu’s TVB Contract Ends in May, Not Renewing?
TVB artist Queenie Chu (朱慧敏) revealed that she is in the midst of negotiating a new artist contract with TVB, expressing that her TVB management contract, which she has been tied to since 2004, will be expiring in May. She also revealed that she is in talks with a new agency.
A few days ago, Queenie attended a premiere event for The Starting Line <回到起步時>, a charity film produced by the Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi Ying Memorial Secondary School. She also stars in the film, alongside Liu Kai-chi (廖啟智), Pinky Cheung (張文慈), and Susan Tse (謝雪心).
In the movie, Queenie has a son in primary school. The 34-year-old, who made her debut through the 2004 Miss Hong Kong Pageant, said this is not her first time playing a mother. “The first time I played a mother was eight years ago,” she said. “I had a ten-year-old son then.”
The film, which opened in May 24, has been in production for over a year. Queenie revealed that she was offered a role while she was still attached to the TVB sitcom Come Home Love <愛·回家>, and almost turned down their offer due to schedule clashes. However, the studio was willing to wait for Queenie for four months, even asking the other cast members to film their portions first. “I was finally free during the last week of shooting. That was when I finally completed Come Home Love.”
As the movie is a charity film, Queenie was asked if she did the movie for free. “No, but at a charity price. Money is not the most important. This is a very meaningful film. It’s a project made by a team of passionate teachers and students.”
In response to the rumors that Queenie’s TVB contract will be ending in May, Queenie confirmed the rumors and said, “It will be soon.” She added that she wants to continue her relationship with TVB, saying, “I cannot reveal the details yet, but I hope the talks will be successful.”
Asking if she plans on “jumping ship” to another station, Queenie said, “No matter what, I’ve been with TVB for 12 years. I am very thankful for the exposure and opportunities that TVB has given me. I definitely learned a lot.” (Has other agencies approached her?) “Of course.”

She is so pretty and she can really act. It’s too bad her scandal ruined the first half of her career…but then again, if she had wised up about her actions, she wouldn’t have landed herself into such a tight spot. Well, if she does renew with TVB I hope she gets meatier roles with more exposure
@coralie it is too bad. Unfortunately too much scandal.
@coralie: What scandals? I only noticed her when she played Ruco’s wife in one of the dramas (the one with Steven Ma, Fala Chen and Linda Chung. Ruco only played a small role as Steven’s cousin). Then again I saw her in CHL.
@ladykriselle: she does look mature but in a nice way. Am surprised she is only 34. I know she’s dating another TVB artist (bald guy who usually plays baddie role or gangster or kelefe).
@lml1977 she was caught kissing Joey Leung back when he already had a long term gf. Got labeled 3rd party and was frozen for awhile
She looks so vibrant in the photo above! Queenie seems like one of those actresses who never aged, but she just looks naturally mature in a great way. She has a very mature look even when she entered the industry in her 20’s and was getting roles as someone’s wife or mistress already.
Such a pity that she didn’t get a memorable role until CHL and then they wrote her off. But agree with the other person, not sure what is up with her and her scandals, but nevertheless, I still wouldn’t mind watching her. Her taste in men is also a bit unusual…
