Raymond Lam Not Tipped in Advance Over JSG Award

TVB’s JSG 2012 Best 10 Awards Presentation was held on Sunday, January 13. As predicted, “Triple threat” Raymond Lam (林峯) won Most Popular Male Singer, his first best singer win since debuting in the music industry with Searching For You In Loving Memories <愛在記憶中找你> in 2007.

Raymond, who lost Best Actor win to Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) at the 2012 TVB Anniversary Awards, was said to have been bitter with TVB for his loss. Allegedly, Raymond turned down all of his 2013 TVB drama offers in order to focus on film and mainland Chinese dramas.

It was claimed that TVB stepped up to have Raymond win the JSG Most Popular Male Singer award in order to compensate for Raymond’s Best Actor loss. At the after-party for the JSG Awards, Raymond said incredulously, “You can’t compensate such a thing. Each award has its own criteria! In short, everyone should embrace a healthy and positive attitude when attending award ceremonies, and focus on our work!”

Since his debut as a singer in 2007, Raymond has won JSG’s Asia Pacific Most Popular Male Singer award three years in a row. At this year’s JSG Music Awards, it was Taiwanese boy band Lollipop F (棒棒堂F) who took home the award.

Rumors claim that Raymond only had eyes on the Most Popular Male Singer award, and TVB was more than happy to hand down the Asia Pacific category to other singers. Regarding these claims, the actor-singer sighed, “No one contacted me about winning any award! Before the ceremony was held, no one asked me whether or not I wanted to win this award!”

Witnesses claim that Raymond was seen changing his wardrobe right before winning the award. Raymond said, “I had a dance segment, so I needed to prepare!”

    1. congrats LF. You deserved the award.Even the Big Four companies ‘s singer like eason , Khalil,Chao Pak Ho participation, they are no match to LF’s popularity

    1. I think he was tipped for Asia Pacific most popular singer and he turned out ok!!

  2. support Raymond…Love you…careless on those rumor…Raymond…wish you the BEST 2013 on your career!

  3. Honestly, even IF he was tipped to win, how would he know about it??? I don’t think they would tell him nor would they reveal any details to the public. That would not be a smart move…

  4. So the media has basically been saying that Raymond will most likely get the Most Popular award and now they’re trying to say TVB tipped him off? LOL

  5. I truly believe that Raymond is talented!
However, it was obvious he knew he was the Winner cuz’ he had his microphone hooked up and ready to dance? He said he had a dance segment? Yeah a dance segment that we has the winner

  6. I remember there was one year when Joey also changed and had the mic set up before getting the Most Popular Female Award. It was pretty obvious who would win when she was sitting there all ready to go.

    1. From memory, Joey’s change was extremely hard to miss. If I hadn’t rewatched the segment after people pointed out that Raymond had changed, I wouldn’t have noticed. But the mic does give it away.

  7. He would have known. Why would anyone bring a whole dance team if they didn’t know?? How many other artists had backup dancers on standby? They have to get pay you know!

  8. Regardless if he was tipped or not, I’m very happy for him. Go LF!

  9. Of course they know, just like the Txb anni award :), unless there is internal chance in last minute.

  10. Congrats LF! Enjoy your awards because they are the fruits of your hard work and talents. Your Honeys are very proud of you! Counting down to the release your next CD and partying three nights with you at your concert! LF Love FUNG!!!

  11. He might not have been tipped but he probably knew. It’s not that hard to guess. He even put on the head mic so I’m sure he was confident. Congrats.
