Raymond Lam Renews TVB Contract for Another 3 Years
Raymond Lam’s (林峯) TVB management contract will expire in the beginning of next year. In order to keep the popular idol at the company, TVB allegedly offered him a great deal of opportunities. Raymond can film for Now TV, and also collaborate with veteran actor Tony Leung Ka Fai (梁家輝) in an upcoming TVB drama. Happy with the flexibility, Raymond agreed to stay at TVB for another three years. All he has to do now is sign the contract.
With a family real estate business worth $2 billion RMB in Xiamen, Raymond told his father he would return home one day to lend a hand. But it has already been fourteen years, and Raymond is progressing exceptionally well within the entertainment industry.
Diversified Career
Losing the TVB Best Actor award to Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) last year, rumors speculated that Raymond was upset and has decided to quit the industry to manage his family business. Many mainland production companies also reportedly contacted him in hopes that he will sign with them. Since Raymond is known for his ability to speak fluent Mandarin, a company was willing to offer Raymond a high salary as well as provide him with his very own workshop.
Now that TVB is giving Raymond grand opportunities, he has decided to remain at the company. Raymond was allowed to film for Lau Ka Ho (劉家豪) and Mui Siu Ching’s (梅小青) Now TV grand production, The First Empress <大漢賢後衛子夫>. The drama is 40 episodes in length, in which he will receive around $500,000 HKD per episode. Raymond is also the lead in a 50-episode 3D wuxia drama, Lu Xiaofeng and Hua Manlou <陸小鳳與花滿樓>. In 2014, he will be starring alongside Tony Leung in a new TVB series.
No Time for Marriage
In addition, TVB has been recently providing Raymond with as many moneymaking chances. Last Friday, he attended a concert in Chengdu and earned $800, 000 HKD from singing three songs. With Raymond’s renewed contract and busy schedule, he may have no time for marriage in the next few years. An insider reported, “Raymond has been wanting to date for a long time. Now that his relationship status has been made public, he is always with his girlfriend. He’s old enough to take care of his personal matters. Raymond knows that TVB favors him, and even though there are many offers from other companies, he said he will definitely renew his contract.”
TVB management executive, Virginia Lok (樂易玲), expressed confidence in getting Raymond to sign the contract renewal. “We’ve always had a great collaboration. Even though his contract hasn’t expired yet, we’ve been discussing its renewal constantly. It’s inconvenient for me to reveal the exact conditions offered, but they are very good of course.”
Speaking of whether this means Raymond will not be able to marry Karena Ng (吳千語) in the next three years, Ms. Lok laughed and said, “We’ve never heard about Raymond’s marriage plans. He’s a big boy and dating is a very normal thing. Right now he’s filming a drama in Hengdian and collaboration amongst the cast is enjoyable. Raymond is a hardworking person, and no one has ever called him lazy. The fact that he is dating has not affected his work performance.”

Are you that kind of fan that follows her news all the time, buys all her albums, watches all her dramas, joins her fan club, spies her on weibo, protects her regardless of bad news, fights back at those who are anti-her, dislikes people that criticize her, and hates her at the end when she dates someone that you don’t like? No offence, but I just wonder whether you are one of these kind of fans based on your comments.

But if you live in Vancouver and saw her live singing the song and hearing it online, anyone would tell you that they are the same and that Linda Chung can sing to a certain degree.
And this is the same thing with Demi lovato. People say that she cannot sing and use autotune. But if you listen to her live on We Day Vancouver and listen to her track, they are almost similar.
And even if Linda chung is dating, I’ll be happy for her since she found someone who likes her. Same thing for Raymond. Although I am not fond of Karena, I am still happy for Raymond because he found someone he likes.
He is a better singer than an actor. Of course, it’s different for everyone but if you’ll listen to his songs you should see he has what it takes to be a professional singer, at least in my opinion.

Where is all the Ancient TVB great movies???? Since from 1980s, great ancient even it is simple story but it’s very good. Where is all the adventurous story? Leon Lai is the great modern actor for movies. Right now i think actors are Manchau modernize movies. Acting humor but it not seem humor at all. I like ordinary humor Hong Kong lifestyle. TVB now is trying to put HOT actor without fabulous scripted. Which is dangerous mind when Fans are trying to make money their hard lifestyle as Fun and humor (like in the movie) It’s very funny to me where those old movie saying that it’s hard to make money in Hong Kong in the 90s, hard life as everyone else. Just to clear it up, I am indeed a mental health professional. But you are incorrect on one part, whether I am a health professional or not, please understand even health professionals do not have the right to claim someone to have a mental disorder unless the health professional runs a complete clinical diagnosis on the client, later would be called a patient if the diagnostics are positive. So yes, please don’t think mental health professionals can go around labeling people to be mentally ill cause that isn’t the case. Lol. However, people to people can call each other mentally ill (at least that is what society practice. I mean how many times do people unconsciously call another mentally ill for doing abnormal things? Whether it is on the news about suicide, genocide, homicide, extreme bullying. So many more). And that is what I am when I am not sitting in the office, just a person.

I believe her work involves treatment for those with mental disorders as well.

Raymond Lam’s songs are very nice applying to mainland’s lifestyle which the people are riding 400 mph Train after hardworking day and want to come home. Even I don’t understand a word meaning of his song lyric but I can feel the beat and hype. He is very moderate actor. Old Hong Kong’s style mix with good new styles. Raymond has gotten so much freedom even when he’s contracted with TVB. I don’t see how much of a difference it will be if he leaves. It’s a win-win situation for him. Raymond was talented in acting. However he decided to diversify his path as a singer as well, and that stunted his growth as an actor. Not everyone can be both great actor and singer at the same time.
Technically, he haven’t received recognition in both path (his album sells well, he got pseudo singing awards) – he’s more regarded as IDOL singer/actor. It’s quite disheartening considering I was a fan of his acting and he is not taken seriously as an actor due to his idol singer status and also – bad selection of movie projects.
Perhaps he himself is aiming to be known as an idol entertainer?

It is hard to do well in both which is why many American actors and actresses just choose to excel in either one or the other since it is very difficult to do both and succeed. But all idols at some point wants to be taken seriously so I guess you can say that he may not be achieving critical success with critics. He is young. As a fan of him, I have also been disappointed by the lack of growth in his acting. Frankly, I don’t mind that people want to diversify, but you should focus on one thing at a time. I don’t really think TVB is a good environment for fostering growth, however Raymond more than anyone else has the ability to do outside projects and I don’t feel like he’s exceeded in those either.
I don’t know how well of a singer he is as i don’t listen to Chinese music, but Ray is terrible as an actor. Most of the dramas he appeared in are so boring that i didn’t even care to see the ending
If you have watched his series, then you have heard him sing since he sings some of the theme, sub and ending songs for many of the series that he acts in. Some are the theme for the Three Kingdom, Lofty Water Verdant Bow, the ending for Eternal Happiness and many others that I can’t remember at the moment.
If the dramas are boring, then it is not his fault. Afterall, there is WAY more to a series than just the leading actor and cast. There are more important things like the plot, script, etc… I don’t think it is fair to say that a series is boring just because of one actor/actress.
