Raymond Lam’s Family Visits Him on “Modern Dynasty 2” Set
It has been nine years since Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) and Raymond Lam (林峯) have worked together. Modern Dynasty 2 <家族榮耀之繼承者> marks their sixth collaboration. After completing filming in Malaysia, the cast returned to Hong Kong to finish the last segment of the drama. Charmaine and Raymond were seen filming an argument scene at the Central Ferry Piers yesterday, where they caught the attention of many tourists.
Although a typhoon is looming close, the weather was still a sweltering 93 degrees Fahrenheit. Raymond had to wear a suit and was busy wiping his sweat, fixing his makeup, and staying hydrating between takes. Towards the end of the day, his wife Carina Zhang (張馨月) and daughter Luna came to pick him up from work. Raymond looked adoringly at his 3-year-old daughter. In previous fan sightings, Raymond’s family lifestyle seemed very down-to-earth. He shared his daughter wanted to eat ice cream, ride the carousel and go on a Ferris wheel.
As Modern Dynasty 2 will finish filming shortly, Raymond will immediately rush to China to start filming for a new movie. When teased whether Raymond is working very hard to earn money for a second child, he replied, “We’ll let nature take its course.” With Luna currently studying at an international school in Shanghai, Raymond will prioritize his daughter’s happiness first before considering whether to relocate her back to Hong Kong for school.
Although Raymond and Charmaine are the main couple in Modern Dynasty 2, they will be caught in a love square with Raymond Wong (黃浩然) and Toby Leung (梁靖琪). Charmaine shared, “I rarely film this type of family conflict drama. I don’t have many relatives, so it’s nice to feel the liveliness and warmth of a large family on the set.” Commenting on her most memorable scene, Charmaine noted it was with her “cousin” Him Law (羅子溢). “He had backstabbed me too many times. Filming this type of scene can really lead to a raspy voice!”
Him will play the main villain who in the drama and his twin sister Toby will continuously pressure him. Asked if he was afraid the character would lead to a negative public image, Him replied, “No, I didn’t even think about turning down the role. Gallen Lo (羅嘉良) said he had his big break from playing a villain. We both have the same last name, so I hope the next one is me!”
Despite their fractured sibling relations in the drama, Him and Toby were very friendly with each other in real life. Him shared they had worked together in a dozen dramas. “I’ve even filmed a bridal store commercial with her! I don’t understand why we had to kiss then. I also share the same birthday as her husband, so she can’t escape me! Toby helped plan my birthday party when we were filming in Malaysia. I had to stay late for work, so she helped entertain the guests in the meantime. I’m really thankful!”
Revealing they have been friends for 20 years, Toby said, “We’ve seen each other at our ugliest. He treats me like his brother, so his wife definitely will not be jealous.” When suggested they should play matchmaker with their children, Him and Toby were very excited, “That’s a great idea–let’s think about it! We should find some activities to bond. However, at our age we should probably leave the decision up to the young ones!”
