Rebecca Zhu Becomes Unrecognizable After New Face Upgrade
Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗) was noted for having a square jaw when she was still competing in the 2011 Miss Hong Kong pageant. Although praised for her beauty at the time, Rebecca apparently was dissatisfied with her own looks, notably slimming down her jawline in recent months. Rebecca’s new face is so shockingly different that even her own TVB colleagues cannot recognize her!
In late 2011, Fala Chen (陳法拉) turned down an offer to star in 2012 anniversary drama Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles <名媛望族>, and Rebecca was cast to take her place. Rebecca subsequently starred in Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄II> and Always and Ever <情逆三世緣>, both currently airing on TVB Jade.
Now a rising TVB fadan, observers noticed that not only has Rebecca’s status as an actress has changed, but also her looks. At recent promotional events, Rebecca was seen sporting a narrower jaw and larger eyes. Her facial features have become much sharper, and her physical resemblance to Fala Chen is uncanny.
Rebecca herself also admitted that she sees Fala to be her target of success. A source allegedly close to Rebecca revealed, “Rebecca says both she and Fala are from beauty pageants. Fala’s career is a success so of course Rebecca wants to follow her footsteps! When she heard that Fala won’t be renewing her contract with TVB, she was so happy! She always wanted to be the second Fala.”
TVB Stars Don’t Recognize Rebecca’s New Face
Rebecca’s features have changed so much, even her colleagues cannot recognize her! Ron Ng (吳卓羲), Rebecca’s costar in Silver Spoon, Sterilng Shackles, was at a loss when the reporters showed him a recent photo of Rebecca. Ron said,“This girl… don’t know her. Who is she?” When prompted that Ron had starred with Rebecca in Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles, Ron said, “I seriously don’t recognize her… well then… she’s still a pretty girl!”
Rebecca’s other TVB colleagues, such as Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿), Priscilla Wong (黃翠如), Raymond Wong (黃浩然), and Him Law (羅仲謙), also had trouble recognizing her. When handed Rebecca’s photo with her new face, Lok Yi said, “Who is she? It’s so hard to guess, just tell me!”
Priscilla said, “Uh… well, I can still recognize her eyes, but as for the other [features]… not really.”
Raymond Wong said flat out, “I don’t know her!” When told that it was Rebecca in the photo, he said, “Oh! Maybe it’s just the quality of the picture! Still quite pretty!”
Him Law said, “Don’t know her!” When prompted that it was his former costar, Him said, “Hm… Rebecca Zhu?”
Rebecca Zhu Responds
When asked about her slimmer jawline, Rebecca said, “I’ve been on a diet. I’ve gotten a lot skinner, and even my friends have been saying that I’ve been looking a lot skinnier! However, my mom says I’m too skinny. She doesn’t want me to keep my diet!”
Even skinnier than when she was competing for Miss Hong Kong? “I can’t say I’m skinnier than when I was still in the pageant. I guess it’s because I haven’t been exercising as much as I used to. I lost some muscle, so I appear skinnier!”
Asked for tips on how to slim just the face, Rebecca said, “My whole body has gotten smaller, not just my face! I really am mindful of what I eat and drink now. When eating hot pot with others, I just eat the vegetables!”
Did Rebecca feel that her slimmer face got her more job offers? She replied, “Thanks to my company and the producers for giving me so many opportunities!”
Rebecca did not care that her new face would spur plastic surgery rumors, “I’m very happy to hear compliments on my looks, but I will not care about the gossip!” Would she consider plastic surgery in the future? “Maybe I will consider it when I’m older, but now, it’s not necessary!”
Noting that she was looking more and more like Fala Chen, Rebecca smiled, “It’s good to look like Fala. She’s so pretty and a good actress! She is my target!”

I agree w you that she clearly had a nose job, but I can’t say what if anything else. But the 1st and 3rd photos look like 2 different women to me.
Maybe camera angle? Instead of surgery? Top picture, extreme right, looks a tad like Tavia. Anyway when she is going for upgrade 2.0 as in her acting?
I agree with you on this…i think it’s just the angle. Also it’s quite obvious that she’s lost baby fat on the face. To me to doesn’t look any different from then to now except the hairstyle…

Personally I think Rebecca received botox treatments to soften her jaw muscles. Sharon Chan appears to have undergone the same treatment. Both actresses’ jawlines have softened over time.
Rebecca’s new photos posted on her Weibo does show a considerably softer face, as opposed to her Miss HK days, when she had a noticeably more pronounced jawline. Her face has softened and makes her look more youthful…this change took place after filming “Triumph in the Skies 2” at the end of last year.

Too many artists had their jaws done in order to look good. I don’t believe losing weight will make the jaw look smaller. Losing weight will make the whole face smaller, not just the jaw.
That’s what I was thinking. I don’t think she would undergo jaw surgery since that is too major and she would have to hide out for awhile to recover.But wouldn’t they have to keep on getting them since I don’t think botox is permanent. You have to keep on getting them done.

Personally I think it is better for her to look unique as Rebecca Zhu. It is no good to look like another person. Everyone should have her own uniqueness.

Even if she is desperate that is the wrong route to go because it will not do her any good to try to be like anyone else. It’s not Fala is that popular or successful either. But even if she was, it still a bad thing to live under another person’s shadow.

I agree. Her acting is poor in both TiTS 2 and Always & Ever…and her characters aren’t even one-dimensional. I feel she could’ve done more with her roles instead of coming off as petulant and entitled. (I’d even say FC did a much better job than she did, and I don’t even like how FC portrayed Hollible Holly!)
She has a pretty face (although it’s a pity she’s known as a pirated version of Fala) and is undoubtedly attractive but it would be a boon to her career if she concentrated on brushing up her acting skills.
Personally among all her six photos posted in this article, I like her middle one (top) and the 1st left (bottom) the best.

Sorry but it is comments like these that show why many people on here are unable to tell what plastic surgery is capable of. It is possible to extend your chin to make your face look sharper. And it is also possible to slim down your jawline to make your face narrower.
Poster is trying to say – losing weight will not be the cause of the change hence implying it required plastic surgery.

@Pandamao – I disagree, this article is discussing how rebecca’s jawline has changed due to plastic surgery, and the poster believes that it is not possible because “the jawline is bone” and how it is impossible to go “smaller no matter how skinny you go” and that “the size of jaw will not change”. However I am pointing out how she is incorrect because it is in fact possible to change the jawline with plastic surgery.
and the fact that the jawline is bone is irrelevant. i guarantee you it is possible and it has been done by many artists and celebrities.
But how can you tell the size of her jaw? How can you tell the difference between bone and fat without touching her face?
If her body is slimmer than before (and I think it is) then it would make sense that she could lose fat on her face too.
And sure there are PS procedures for the jaw too, but it is surely rather invasive? I feel like most HK stars don’t do very invasive procedures unlike Korea and Mainland where the actresses’ faces are slowly converging into the same face.

Having a plastic surgery on the jaw is major work. Think of the down time, the swelling, bruising etc. I doubt artistes actually do that. I believe most of them go for the common surgeries such as eyelids and nose. But changing the bone structure is huge. Most probably they had botox or fillers.
I think a lot of artistes had their jawlines “trimmed”. Personally I don’t quite believe losing weight will do the job. Losing weight will make the whole face smaller, but not just the jaw line.
She really think everybody is a moron. Worst lair ever! She had PS no doubt about it…I’ve gotton skinnier weigh in under 100lbs and my jawline, eyes and nose doesn’t change a bit. PS is bad but most celeb does it for personal gain or whatever mental problems they have. What it bothers me was when they lied about it as if they are so special something magically happened overnight that they lost weight and somehow their nose was sharper and taller…their eyes and jawline magically changed. How come that didn’t happen to Linda Chung she is very special too and have to maintian her weights like every celeb. That’s because she wants to stay true to herself and be a real person with real emotions on her face not plastic barbie smile.

clearly she was referred for plastic surgery by 620/tvb as with most of their artistes. she looks much prettier than before (although she was quite good looking to start with). future actors should patronise the same surgeon.
Which picture did they show them though? The last 2 look the least like her, but that’s also due to the lighting/filtering of the pictures. Her face does look slimmer now but she is still recognizable as herself.

It could be photoshopped. Half of the things we see today are highly photoshopped. My TA who is a photographer and a graphic designer said that what a model looks during the photoshoot and what she looks after is completely different, mainly due to the intense use of photoshop
It doesn’t matter they have ps or not. It’s their acting that counts. If you can act you will become a hit actress even if you r ugly. But if you cannot act no matter how much money you spend on ps they will all go to waste because people will not watch.

Definitely PS. Weight lost or botox will not make bone disappear. Feel your own jawline, do you have such a big piece of muscle there that can be “relaxed” by an injection? Unless you’re 300lbs to begin with, losing weight will not make such a remarkable change to your face shape.
I heard on a radio program many years ago hosted by Chan Suk Lan (1988 Miss HK 1st runner up) that she considered the jaw trimming procedure. She said it is done inside the mouth so it is not that noticeable you had surgery from the outside. What deterred her was that the bone will grow back and you have to continue to have touch up procedures to maintain it. But that was years ago, they might have more advanced procedures these days.
I have to say Rebecca looks less “leurng” with the new face shape. Fake, yes, but more sharp and modern. I always thought she was in her 30’s but was surprised to learn is only 25 y/o.
She just happened to be unlucky to born with alittle Fala looks in her but she doesn’t really look like Fala. I think RZ looks prettier than FC and her acting is much better too. Of course people will dig out things to say such as her trying to act like Fala and when she does get famous, people will say that it was because of Fala. Fala’s acting is so bad that she even realized it herself. It’s all from Rebecca’s own effort.
Her character in Silver Spoon is so old fashion and her newer dramas are less old fashion so people don’t recognize her. I love how she speaks so positive about Fala Chen all the time. I support her.
I don’t see any difference in her picture. She still looks old and ugly. Maybe she want to get public’s attention by going under knife. But then what? If she cannot act. Waste of money. I see some actress that are not beautiful but they really act. But I guess nowadays entertainment business goes with scandals and fake attitude in stead of being honest and hard work.

oh no, i prefer her original look that got her the title of miss hongkong, don’t think she would have won the pageant with the new plastic look, original look can be cast as fala’s sister esp in ancient shows, now she’s going to be cast as a waiting girl or as waitress in modern shows
