Rebecca Zhu: From Rags to Riches

After winning TVB’s Best Supporting Actress award in 2017, Rebecca Zhu’s (朱晨麗) career is finally seeing a boost. This year, she was cast in her first leading role in The Stunt <特技人>, starring alongside Shaun Tam (譚俊彦). With increasing opportunities, Rebecca has also increased her financial wealth.

Prior to her success, Rebecca had her fair share of financially troubling days. At one point, she lived with a roommate in a small 100-square-feet room.

Things took a turn for the better when she began dating a wealthy businessman, known only as Mr. Lau. Not only did Rebecca have the opportunity to form relationships with affluent socialites and become a part of their social circle, she was also able to learn a lot about investing from her boyfriend. After a two-year relationship, the couple broke up because her ex-boyfriend was too flirtatious.

However, the 30-year-old actress took her experiences and branched out into different investment avenues. Rebecca also opened a high-end art gallery. The most financially profitable are the two apartment units she purchased for over $7 million HKD in 2014. By the second year, the investments have already paid off.

Recently, the paparazzi republished photos of her dining with Mr. Lau. When questioned about her relationship with him, Rebecca said, “We know one another. This is old news. The picture of us having dinner together was taken two years ago. I don’t want to get my friends who are not from the entertainment circle involved in the matter. Because of this, I won’t be responding to this matter anymore.”
