Rebecca Zhu Recalls Difficulties while Filming “Recipes to Live By”
In Recipes to Live By <味想天開>, Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗) stars alongside Tony Hung (洪永城), Sisley Choi (蔡思貝), and Hugo Wong (黃子恆). Rebecca portrays a beautiful and talented chef who has a complicated romance storyline with Hugo. Rebecca admitted that it was difficult to convey the complex romantic emotions.
Rebecca said, “My character is very righteous and often helps treat people. In the drama, Hugo’s character is addicted to drugs, and I am the one who helps him change his life around. Our relationship will face many obstacles. We break up and get back together many times. The emotions involved in this type of tug-of-war are hard to grasp because we are different after every breakup. We have to think about how we can convey more emotional depth each time.”
On the very first day of filming, Rebecca was bitten by a mosquito on the forehead, causing noticeable swelling. This unfortunately halted filming for a day. She recalled, “There are a lot of mosquitos when filming in the summer. I was very unlucky on my first day of filming and got bit on the forehead! My forehead was extremely swollen, and it swelled up fast. Half of my forehead was puffed up! In a scene at a water villa, there was a bridge from far away. Even when the camera was on the bridge filming a wide shot, you could still see that my forehead was swollen.”
Having entered showbiz after placing first in the 2011 Miss Hong Kong Pageant, Rebecca has portrayed many minor and supporting roles. Starring as the second female lead, this may be Rebecca’s opportunity to shine.
