“Return to the Three Kingdoms” Shelved; Ruco Chan’s New Comedy Replaces June Time Slot
Raymond Lam (林峯) and Kenneth Ma’s (馬國明) fantasy ancient drama, Return to the Three Kingdoms <回到三國>, was originally scheduled to broadcast on June 11th in Hong Kong. However, TVB decided to postpone the air date without citing specific reasons. Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) and Krystal Tin’s (田蕊妮) recently completed romantic comedy will take its time slot instead.
The cast and crew of Return to the Three Kingdoms indicated their surprise by TVB’s sudden change in airing dates. The new broadcast date for the drama was not announced yet. Kenneth Ma noted his surprise, but was not disappointed. He said, “It will be broadcast sooner or later!”
There was a conspiracy theory that TVB was acting petty and postponed the broadcast of Return to the Three Kingdoms due to producer Lau Ka Ho’s (劉家豪) resignation. Kenneth said that was not possible, as Mr. Lau’s wife, producer Mui Siu Ching (梅小青), had also resigned yet Daddy Good Deeds <當旺爸爸> was aired earlier. The couple now work in senior management at rival station, Now TV. Furthermore, Mr. Lau’s final TVB production, Dangerous Protection <護花危情>, will be aired in July.
Kenneth said, “TVB has already invested in the production of this drama. It will not let such [petty] reasons overrule its decision to broadcast it or not!”
Producer Amy Wong’s (王心慰) comedy, Charge! Thin Salary Corps <衝呀！瘦薪兵團>, formerly known as Chok Family, had just completed filming in early April. Currently in the post-production stage, Ms. Wong said that there will be sufficient time to make the final cut prior to airing. Ruco Chan said that he was happy that his recent drama will be seen by audiences shortly.
Charge! Thin Salary Corps will air on June 11th in Hong Kong. The drama stars Ruco Chan and Krystal Tin as a married couple. Other cast members include Louis Yuen (阮兆祥), Natalie Tong (唐詩詠), Leanne Li ( 李亞男), Jason Chan (陳智燊), and Katy Kung (龔嘉欣).

Jayne: TVB’s decisions regarding broadcast dates seem very abrupt lately. Certainly with the good hype that Sergeant Tabloid has generated, you would think that they would choose to air it sooner as well?
I’m disappointed. I was looking forward to Return to the Three Kingdom. I do, however, look forward to Ruco and Kristin’s performance. Will they be playing a couple?
Too early to be disappointed. The series has Raymond, kenneth ma and Tavia who are popular figures in TVB. They’re saving this for a better time. Maybe in Aug or Sept
I hope they will save it for next year and air Highs and Lows this year instead :P.

I think this might be a plan to air kingdom later like just before the awards so it gives Raymond lam a chance at the best actor award. if they air it now, there wont be much of a hype in Nov

HAL might air in second half is better for LF. Easier to remember during award voting
but it would make much more sense if they air highs and lows (& gives him a change at best actor nominations) then airing kingdom because i think that highs and lows is a big production

Nah, they’re saving the more dramatic pieces for later in the year for awards purposes. That and war with CTI.
In agreement. B3K might just be saved for nearer time to the anniversary just in case Raymond’s HAL can’t finish the editing. Both series look big scale and both has Raymond as lead and TVB might pick one to represent Raymond this year to fight the award.
I wouldn’t be surprised the reason they are airing Krystal Tin’s new series because her husband have been in the news lately with his health condition.

As for Raymond he actually has a more interesting character in HAL. So there is two options if TVB want to prop him up
I doubt it. Provide that LF has never had any anniversary series and I doubt it’ll be a change this year.
I’m disappointed that The 3 Kingdom is delayed. I was quite looking forward to it. But, Thin Salary Corps has Jason Chan and Leanne Li, whom I like. I hope they have sufficient screentime in the series.

After looking at the trailer, I don’t care when 3K will air. I never that fond of Mr.Lau’s series anyway, his sense of humor just does not fit me. But anyway, when it’s out, I’ll give it a try since the cute guy is in it.

LKH left TVB but to NowTV who is going to have a link with Txb, so maybe LKH’s place in Txb’s heart dun change much. I guess it won’t be a factor to affect his position and also his wife’s.

Hope so, but that’s mean next year he’ll need to film another at the beginning of the year or there’ll be no him for the whole year. With his concert coming up in Jan, I don’t hope he’ll film series arround that time.

its annoying because a potentially good series are affected by short post-production time. why the rush in broadcasting “Chok Family”? they just finished filming less than a month ago. same deal with Sergeant Tabloid. rushed job with post-production… resulted in the ending being rushed. they don’t even have a theme song.

Did anyone notice that Linda is out of favour a bit this year? Although she has 4 dramas out including WP but TVB is clearing out all her series before the ‘golden’ airing times of Sept-Nov which is closer to anniversary, and none of Linda’s series are grand productions.
The ‘golden’ timeframes(Sep-Nov) will be filled with more crucial and grand series such as SSSS, TC-The confidant or The Eunuch), HAL, Moses, Maggie and Aimee period series, GJ2 and possibly B3K and ROE-formerly ATF.
3K was never a big series, and won’t become one.
It looks more than an average series with many first liners such as Raymond, Kenneth, Tavia and Ruco all on one and can generate hot discussion among fans when it aired.
But the investment for it isn’t high, cause to the lack of good quality.
Some Linda fans told me that WP’s airing is assumed to be at 830pm and that means half of the series will clashed with London Olympics starting July 29 and it leaves them with half hearted excitement. They also don’t understand why TVB is airing all Linda’s series close to one another, they could’ve waited another few months, but we know TVB’s practice that the last few months is for promotional purposes such as SSSS.
Tired of Linda. The new Linda series in July might suffer in ratings because audience tired of her ROFL. Good move by TVB to not promote Linda anymore.

Ah exoidus, forget to mention: Steal ideas from J mangas isn’t a bad idea. Taiwan and Korea did such things and got successful series. Just that how they adapt these mangas. In most of cases, the J series (live action) adapted J mangas are always better than the same adaptions of Taiwan and Korea. For example: Nobody can deny that Hana Yori Dango live action is the best adaption of Hana Yori Dango, over Meteor Garden of Taiwan, Boy over flower of Korea and Meteor Rain of China. Another examples are Hana Kimi, The story of Yamada Tarou.

Actually, I didn’t mind TY in BTROC… she’s hasn’t done much for me outside of that though. I thought she managed to play the psycho quite well. Some people know I wasn’t keen on NW’s acting in COTRH, she could have taken pointers from TY’s performance in BTROC imho…

Honestly if this drama show during the time clashes with EURO 2012 the fan of kenneth and raymond will not be happy since most guy busy betting on soccer games ,maybe air a weaker serial will do.
