Ron Ng and Bosco Wong Butcher Song Lyrics

Ron Ng Bosco Wong

Despite losing the broadcasting rights of the World Cup games to I-Cable, TVB wanted to capture the soccer fever that is currently overtaking Hong Kong audiences. Mona Fong ordered Ron Ng Cheuk Hei and Bosco Wong Chung Chak to record the Chinese theme song, entitled “World Cup,” for Korean drama, No Limit. This drama is currently being re-broadcast on channel J2.

On Saturday, June 12th, Ron and Bosco arrived at TVB City to record the music video. Both men wore matching black and white colors. Since Ron and Bosco only received the notice for the job the day before, they were unprepared in the recording and kept forgetting the lyrics.

Taking a two hour break from filming series, Ron appeared energetic at the music video recording. However, he was mentally unprepared for the job and frowned while singing the lyrics from note cards. During the taping, Ron looked at Bosco to supply him cues for the lyrics. Although looking at his scribbled notes, Bosco supplied the wrong lyrics for Ron.

Due to time constraints, the Director chose to film Bosco’s segment next. Playing “genius ball,” Bosco did not frown. Pressured into singing while spontaneously creating his own dance choreography, Bosco started sweating profusely. He poked fun at the situation and shouted “Let’s get wet!” emulating Raymond Lam Fung’s concert theme last year.

Ma Choi was also cast last minute in the music video. Although she did not have to sing, she had to dance the flamenco. Despite possessing a background in Chinese traditional dance, it was still quite a challenge. Fortunately, her low-cut dress and 32C figure redeemed some points.

Originally, Super4, TVB’s own music boy band, had completed recording the “World Cup” song. Plans were made to have Super4 record the music video on June 9th. Since Super4 was a new group without high public recognition levels, Mona Fong ordered last minute casting changes. Since Bosco was promoting his new music album at the same time, he was cast in the video instead.

Ron and Bosco said they were unaware that they were replacements for Super4. “We received notice to film the music video yesterday.  We were uncertain whether it was the ‘World Cup’ song or another television theme song. But we will try to coordinate with TVB’s decisions.”

Jayne: Ron’s hair looks like Elvis and Bosco’s hair looks like girlfriend, Myolie Wu’s rounded, short bob! Would like to see this “butchered” music video when available.

Ron and Bosco teaming up makes me think back to the last TVB World Cup promotion, when Raymond and Kevin were also part of the promotion. Also do you guys remember the Olympic 6 Stars, in which Lai Lok Yi and Sammul Chan was also included? Years have passed and all these guys seem on different tracks now.

I think Raymond is the most successful of the bunch. His album sales went platinum; he performed at the HK Coliseum; bought a $20 million dollar home; and filmed two major movies this year already.  And he’ll probably win the TVB Best Actor Award within the next 3 years soon. And there are still many untapped markets ahead.

In the article, it mentioned Bosco poking fun at the amount of sweat he had and said, “Let’s get wet” Although it was funny, it also made me think of the distance Ray has leaped forward in front of everyone else.

  1. I agree that Raymond now is in a much higher pedestal compared to his peers with his platinum record sales, major movies and consecutive Coliseum concerts.

It is sad that Ron and Bosco at this stage is left far behind, which I assumed mostly contributed by their venturing into the recording industry without the necessary skills to back it up and ended up being *hated* and *killed* by netizens and HK media. TVB is partly to blame for this but nonetheless these two have their own share of fans and achievement even though the amount is a lot smaller and slower.

This article is just another example of TVB’s sloppy and rushed production work.

  2. lol. Things have changed a lot in just a few years, but it’s not really fair to compare them. Not everyone’s meant to be a superstar, and sometimes, not everyone wants to go down that path. Take Andy Lau for example — he was dubbed one of the Five Tigers in TVB, and he was also dubbed one of the Four Heavenly Kings, but not every one of the Five Tigers and the Four Heavenly Kings have enjoyed quite the same level of success in as many areas as Andy has, even though all of them are also talented and huge celebrities in their own rights.

  3. I can see ray as the next tvb no 1 brother and next andy lau. He has that prince charisma and gentleman. Ron has airhead image while Bosco has playful bad boy image, these 2 will be hard 2 loved by people.

The HK reporters should stop focusing on actresses’ neckline and breast. Even if you are a gossip magazine, you can still be more polite in your reporting. I’ve been annoyed with this for quite sometime. Many times, when reporting on actresses wearing gown, they would keep focusing on how revealing the gown is, how low the neckline is etc. I remember Sheren said in Heart Talk (the show she co-hosted with 2 other people that discuss sexual health), shes find HK entertainment mag very sleazy, so much so, it’s like porn mag. They like to catch actresses ‘jau gwong’. She recounted an incident where she was wearing a coat or something and a report want to take her picture and asked her to remove the coat. Of course, she’s annoyed and refused. The reporter than reported that she ‘black face’.

  5. Right now Ray is the only one who manage 2 be superstar after louis koo. I have a feeling he will leave tvb too since he’s successful now

  6. I agree with you Vivien that eventually, Ray will be just focused on singing and movies and not TVB series. I really hope not because I love him in series but for his sake and growth, the first path may be better.

  7. Yah I really see him leaving TVB and focus on singing and movies very soon since he’s already successful in singing and clinching major movie roles this year with 2 big productions with stellar female partner. TVB is bad with their mgmt and I’m sure popular superstars like Ray want to do more things than cheap TVB series.

  8. I am glad to know that Raymond is so successful now, but I will miss seeing him in TVB series since I am not a big fan of Chinese movies. I think being successful or not is also based on timing, fate and luck as well. There are many that are really talented, but sadly just don’t have the luck, connections and many other things to become successful. Anyways, wish the best for Bosco and Ron as well and hope that they will be successful like Raymond one day.

  9. Don’t worry because Raymond isn’t leaving TVB instantly. He still have two series to be released this year. One is the mainland-HK joint production Growing Through Life where he is the main protagonist and the other is The Uninvited Date where he said he has a very outstanding demon character and co-lead with the great Bobby. I’m sure you will be satisfied with his TVB series shares this year and won’t miss him that much 🙂

You mean the 2 movies where he costars with Miriam Yeung and Charlene Choi respectively? Both movies are produced by Shaw Brothers Limited and Shaw Brothers Ltd belongs to Sir Run Run Shaw i.e. TVB’s boss. So, it’s thanks to TVB’s ‘cheap’ management that Raymond was able to ‘clinch’ these 2 roles. Raymond still needs TVB. Other than ‘Stolen Love’, the other movies Raymond has participated in are all produced by Shaw Brothers.

  11. raymond has to leave the industry sooner or later anyways. he has his dads business to take care of since he is the oldest in his family.

  12. “raymond has to leave the industry sooner or later anyways. he has his dads business to take care of since he is the oldest in his family.”

He didn’t need to now. I’ve read a news some time ago (last year I think) where Ray’s dad said Ray’s younger brother shows an interest in business. So, he can take over.

  13. Since Raymond is already successful in this career I don’t think he has to leave anymore 🙂

  14. The Olympic six stars does not include Kevin Cheng.

  15. Hi Jayne, I remember the Olympic six stars, they are Raymond Lam, Bosco Wong, Ron Ng, Samuel Chan, Chris Lai and Kenneth Ma.

  16. I watched the video last week, and also the making of the video. lolol
