Rosy Zhao Guest Stars in Zhou Ye’s New Movie
Post-95 flower Rosy Zhao Lusi (趙露思) has an upcoming big-screen appearance! While her guest-star appearance in actress Zhou Ye’s (周也) new movie Moments We Shared <雲邊有個小賣部> sent waves of surprise among fans, detractors have been making fun of Rosy by digging up her poor box office performance from years back, and commented that she has to downgrade herself to a supporting role as she lacks pull on the big screen!
Captured appearing in Ningbo where filming is ongoing, Rosy’s surprise appearance drew positive attention to the film from excited fans, though it also attracted disparaging comments from anti-fans. They expressed their surprise in sarcastic comments at Rosy playing guest-star as a supporting actress for Zhou Ye, her post-95 competitor. “What is she thinking to be a guest-star for the same-gen ‘flower’?” They also pointed out how she really “lacked the resources when it comes to films”.
Zhao Lusi’s Film Flopped at the Box Office
While Rosy’s drama performances have been affirmed by viewers, with her recent romantic drama Hidden Love <偷偷藏不住> capturing hearts, she has failed to replicate the same success on the big screen — her 2019 movie Autumn Fairy Tale <藍色生死戀>, which she co-starred in with actor Xu Kai (許凱), raked in less than 1.5 million RMB. In contrast, Zhou Ye has been making strides with several commercially successful film appearances so far, with her recent crime thriller No More Bets <孤注一擲> taking in 3 billion RMB.
Aware that anti-fans were trying to play on the tension between the two, fans defended Rosy and brought up how the popular actress had personally helped to promote Zhou Ye’s drama Back from the Brink <護心> when it was released. Emphasizing that all roles are equal whether they are supporting or main lead roles, Rosy’s fans opined that her guest appearance shows her commitment to widening her acting repertoire, and brought up how she avidly promoted the film via variety programs, so it can reach more audiences.
