Ruco Chan Rides Popularity in Singapore
Last week, Ruco Chan (陳展鹏), Tavia Yeung (楊怡), Tony Hung (洪永城), Gigi Wong (黃淑儀), and King Kong (金剛) went to Singapore to promote various TVB dramas and variety programs, including Ruco and Tavia’s new mystery drama Eye in the Sky <天眼> and Gigi’s popular food program, Eating Well with Madam Wong <吾淑吾食>.
Ruco Chan, who was crowned TV King at least year’s Starhub TVB Awards in Singapore, brought fans to a frenzy when he went on stage to perform a song. He also promoted Eye in the Sky, which premiered on Monday, March 2. The mystery drama, which also stars Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) and Tavia Yeung, has been earning positive reviews from viewers. Ruco’s role as the villainous Cheng Lik Hang is also highly anticipated.
At the event, Gigi showcased some of her cooking skills on the spot, impressing fans. She also announced that Eating Well with Madam Wong, which has been running since November 2013, received a renewal from TVB, and the production crew will soon begin shooting an episode special for Singapore.

He was actually a kelefe in the 90s. I recently watched condor hero 1995 ，spotted him as a kelefe.
I think I read somewhere he joined the 1994 TVB acting class at the tender age of 17. So probably about right he was a kelefe in 1995 Condor Hero. It’s a pity he was discovered a little too late (in 2011 drama The Other Truth). But better late than never…he’s so damn hot right now!! Can’t get enough of him 🙂

I watched him in eye in the sky and his body figure looked great when he wore the black security uniform. I never knew his waist was so slim but he has buffy arms and a butt which made his body look ideal
He has a badminton players built except admittedly he is flabby in the middle. No six pack or taut stomach.
He’s still incredibly sexy without the six pack !!! He’s the lean sexy type..
It’s a matter of personal taste. Not every female is turned on by 6 pack. I, for one, find it revolting. I prefer lean athletic type like Ruco. And I don’t think he’s flabby in the middle. He looks slim in most clothes but when he’s wearing a singlet (tank top) he looks really hunky.
He’s slim, he’s well built but I don’t think he is lean. He is not so skinny like Kevin which is like all skin and bones but I do think he can do something with the mid area. I love that guy and I do like a six pack (not those korean super idol type, scary!) but I want more definition. But since golf is his main sport, I don’t ever see that ever happening.
He mentioned in an interview that he’s going to take up body building, possibly for a new role. Eeks pls no rippling biceps and six pack! Musclemen are so gross and ugly and their bodies make them look stunted. I love Ruco the way he is, lean and sexy.
WhAt role? If he stops smoking and tone up he will be greek god and healthy too. Admittedly age is jot on his side. I want him to tone up a bit jot like k idol but not undefined. At least he is not all skin and hones mistaken as healthy. But i wish he stop smoking.
like what choco-bunny mentioned, females don’t necessarily get turned on by s packs. it’s the smile and charm which turns me on.
@choco-bunny: Ruco is going to take up body building?!?! NOooooooooo!!! Most of us like him the way he is now…lean, athletic, sporty, sexy. He doesn’t need all this muscle mass. He’s already almost perfect with his great personality, humility, good looks and great talent in terms of acting and singing.

I’m also praying that he won’t end up looking like those body-builder muscleman in gyms who lift weights, they look so stunted and ugly and their heads look tiny on top of their buffed up bodies. Ruco, as he is now, is just perfect in my eyes; slim and athletic build like his is what turns me on. Muscles and 6 pack, bleh!

Ruco should have won an award for his role as Sam in Brother’s Keeper or Carson in Ruse of Engagement. But he’s not TVB fave son so awards have shun him for the last few years. The audience knows he’s a great and versatile actor…though he has not won anything in HK so far. Nonetheless, he has ton of supporters in HK and overseas.
That’s the problem. I’ve read about tons of supporters but I don’t see the results in HK so my conclusion is in HK he doesn’t have that much. BUT he is garnering momentum, people talk about his performances, now he needs a good role. Problem with Ruco is his character is good, his performance is good but look at Eye In the Sky, way too many distraction, too many unnecessary stuff. I wish he has Roger’s roles for once. HE should have won for Reality Check. Eye In The Sky is enjoyable but I am beginning to see it bloated with so many things.
Isn’t TVB remaking Hazawa Naoki? No? Yes? If yes I want Ruco to have that role on condition it is the exact Japanese remake; less bloat, just all Hanzawa and his story.I am kinda tired with the brother with an agenda/issue sort of role. Ruco needs a series where he has no mothers and brothers.
Ruco’s has become the hottest tbb actor in HK after airing of BK, OL & ROE in a row last year. He was the most fav tbb actor in a voting sometime after OL at HK Discuss. His votes almost doubled than the no 2. In a recent radio interview, grandmas aged 60+ to 80 said they enjoyed his dramas, esp his role as LKT in OL. This role has made him a household fav of female audience in HK who hold the remote tv control. His popularity in HK is apparent and with it world now, tbb can’t conceal this fact. It’s unwise to think viewers are naive, no, not even the elderly.

Ruco fans should watch File of Justice IV, episode 18. Ruco plays a rich heir who got caught stealing women’s lingerie. While it’s a funny story line, it also shows how far along Ruco has come in the last 20 years both in terms of his acting and his career.
It’s crazy to see some of the main cast as extras way back in the days, I remember spotting Francis Ng as an extra in the Andy/Tony Duke of Mount Deer.
Love Ruco so much that even he dresses badly, I still consider him very good looking.

Ruco uses his facial expression and eyes very aptly to convey different emotions. It’s not exaggerated nor fake or put on. He’s such a good actor. I like Kevin too but to me Ruco is a better actor. And his athletic, lean and tan body is to die for….so so sexy. And to top it all, he’s a nice guy too. Each time I look at him, I just wonder who will be the lucky girl to date or marry him 🙂
I hope that one day Ruco will be the next Tony Leung Chiu Wai. What will it take for a director to cast him in a movie? So sick of Louis, Nick, Andy, Sean and the likes taking turns in HK movies!

Ruco is very versatile. HK films desperately need a successor after Louis Koo. I hope Johnny To takes notice, as Ruco would look good in action films.
Starring in TVB dramas will continue to raise Ruco’s profile in Mainland China. He is already very popular in Southeast Asia.
Either way, I am confident that Ruco will have staying power whichever market he chooses, as he has the acting chops to pull off his roles.
I’ve come across quite a number of people in forums who like both actors but most think that Ruco is the better actor. I like both too but my heart belongs to Ruco who i think is the better actor too. Kevin is well suited to this role and it’s nice to see him back in tvb dramas. He’s my second fave actor in tvb next to Ruco. Only like these 2 gorgeous guys so I’m really happy to be able to watch them both in one drama.
@Jayne, I really hope so too. Ruco just needs one major break in his career. He so deserves it but then he’s always lacked the luck factor. He looks great in action roles. I daresay no one in tvb right now can do action roles better than him. He has the height and build and all the right stylish moves.

@choco-bunny and Jayne: Ruco definitely has the acting chops and probably 1 of TVB’s most versatile actor currently. He can act in many of the roles played by Roger, Bosco, Kenneth, Raymond (Lam) etc. But not all of them can do what Ruco has done. I do feel that lady luck is not on Ruco’s side. But I firmly believe his time will come one day where he’ll get his big break into movies. Hopefully sooner than later. And yes, the HK movie industry needs a new blood like Ruco…sick of the same old same old. He can do action, comedy, romantic, drama. Meanwhile, like what Jayne says, acting in TVB drama will increase his exposure in China. Hopefully, he’ll get to act in China dramas so that he can make the real big bucks in TV. If that happens, I’ll switch to watching mainland dramas. But think he needs to polish up his Mandarin first 🙂
I agree. There is nobody in TVB is as versatile as Ruco who can play every roles and character. Not even Wayne Lai. Ruco deserves recognition from TVB! He’s too talented and sexy! I hope TVB stop using him just to promote newbie actresses and start utilizing his great talent. Ruco needs a real breakthrough role.

Ever since that year Ruco baby lost to Fred, I no longer consider that voting has an existence value. In term of eyes, mouth, nose, ears, body,voice, Fred is in no way comparable to my Rubo baby.

Yup, don’t find Fred Cheng sexy at all. Ruco is the ultimate…super hot and sexy. And the best thing is he doesn’t deliberately act or look sexy. He exudes this sex appeal so naturally…without him realizing it. Watch him doing the limbo rock thingy during the recent KL marathon event…he is so so sexy with those moves with his chest and hips 🙂

Fred is too baby faced. That’s why it’s hard to take him seriously in dramas. He can’t compare to Ruco’s sexiness and droolworthiness body and expressive eyes. He’s better off staying as a singer.

Kevin reached his peak out of tvb and he will forever one series to define him. One day ruco’s time will come but it may be out of tvb. Again is it the lack of offers?
Hopefully, things will only get better for Ruco with Candy Wan as his new manager. Candy used to manage Raymond Lam before he left TVB. And see how far Raymond has gone, despite not being a very good actor. But I must say Raymond posseses that likeability factor. But I still think Ruco is way better looking than Raymond, in my opinion.

I heard that Candy has managed to get her artistes Ruco, Kate and Mandy for an event in Cambodia in end of March. That’s a good step to promote her artistes in another country. Ruco already hot in HK, SG, MY and now Candy is bringing him to Cambodia next.

Moses can’t act for nuts. His acting is so out-on, totally unnatural. Kevin is still ok. But of coz, Ruco’s acting is really really good. His eyes, brow and lips all can talk 🙂 . I don’t think Ruco has reached his peak yet. And I do hope TVB really treasures him and give him the long awaited credit that is due to him. Don’t just keep using him 🙁
