Ruco Chan Wants to Open Eyewear Shop

Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) has a dream of owning a business one day, and he wants to specialize in eyeglasses. In recent years, some TVB artists have branched out and poured their savings into business. Many chose to invest in the food industry, such as Stefan Wong’s (黃長興) French restaurant A La Maison and Bosco Wong’s (黃宗澤)’s upcoming upscale oyster bar. Ruco apparently has considered opening a store as well, and would like to invest his money in quality eyewear.

Ruco has become a household name after a string of starring roles in prime time dramas. His latest series Slow Boat Home <情越海岸線> received generally positive reviews and satisfactory ratings, helping TVB recover from its poor performance during the first half of 2013. The 36-year-old also has two more dramas scheduled to air by the end of the year, Brother’s Keeper <巨輪> and Outbound Love <單戀雙城>. With his good looks, talent, and a strong work ethic, Ruco is on his way to become one of TVB’s top artists.

Ruco attended a store opening for a tong sui shop today. He insisted on showing his support in person because he has known the owner since he was a young, struggling actor. Ruco further explained that he had signed his very first filming contract with the shop’s owner, which led to his film industry debut.

Reporters asked if he had ever thought about owning a store. Ruco said, “I have considered it. Many friends wanted to partner with me [to start a business], but right now I am only focusing on filming and have no time to take care of a business.” Ruco added that if given the opportunity, he would like to sell eyeglasses. “I am most interested in getting into the eyewear business. I have loved eyeglasses since I was young. I find wearing glasses makes a person appear very classy and cultured.”
