Sammul Chan Gains Weight for His Role as “Justice Bao”
Sammul Chan (陳鍵鋒) was once one of TVB’s most promoted actors and was a part of the “Olympic Six Stars” comprised of Raymond Lam (林峯), Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), Kenneth Ma (馬國明), Ron Ng (吳卓羲), and Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿). With his delicate features and good acting, Sammul gained many female fans. He had many memorable performances in Survivor’s Law <律政新人王>, The Academy <學警雄心>, and The Four <少年四大名捕>. However, he was never as highly promoted as the other actors since he didn’t sign with TVB. Turning to the Mainland Chinese market, Sammul was offered many acting roles and was the male lead in almost all of his dramas.
Last October, producer Poon Ka Tak (潘嘉德) held a banquet to celebrate his 70th birthday and retirement. Kenneth, Ron, Raymond, and Sammul reunited and posted a group picture on social media to celebrate the rare occasion. In comparison to the others, it was clear that Sammul had gained a bit of weight.
It seems that it was not just a bad camera angle as in his most recent appearance for the blessing ceremony of his new Mainland Chinese movie Xuan Xun Bao Zheng <玄探包拯>, it was very clear that he had gained quite a bit of weight on his face and body. In the movie, Sammul portrays Justice Bao, in which he resigns from his civil service post and returns to his hometown to take care of his parents, only to witness strange murders take place.
