Secret Identities and Hidden Motives Abound in “Modern Dynasty 2: Heir to the Throne”
Following the successful formula of its predecessor, Modern Dynasty 2:Heir to the Throne <家族榮耀之繼承者> revolves around the power struggles among an elite family. Secret identities, hidden motives, and inheritance battles are just the tip of the dramatic plot. Released on May 13, the drama features Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼), Raymond Lam (林峯), Him Law (羅子溢), Gallen Lo (羅嘉良), Benz Hui (許紹雄), Raymond Wong (黃浩然), Dada Chen (陳靜), Toby Leung (梁靖琪), Jeannie Chan (陳瀅), and Venus Wong (王敏奕).
Due to the strong cast, promotions for Modern Dynasty 2 have been centered around its central characters. In the character posters, the cast was dressed in evening wear with an animal or object in the background that symbolized their personality.
Charmaine portrays Charlotte Yau, who becomes acting chairman of her family corporation when her grandfather falls into a coma. Her character poster features a lion, symbolizing her as a natural leadership skills. She is confident, charismatic, and emotionally intelligent.
Directly challenging Charmaine is her uncle, portrayed by Gallen Lo. He acts as a father figure to twins, Him Lo and Toby Leung, whom he placed in the Yau family years ago for future benefit. Gallen and Him’s character posters feature wolves in different colors. The wolf is comparable with the lion, with leadership abilities and emotional intelligence. It is crafty and full of perseverance. It is also a natural hunter that uses relay-style pursuits and collective attacks to wear down their prey, which is how Gallen and Him will face down Charmaine.
Raymond Lam plays Ko Jun, a lawyer. His character is symbolized with the Libra, however the two weighing scales are not fully shown in the poster hinting that his character has many secrets and will often resort to extreme measures to achieve his goals.
Toby Leung’s character poster has many intertwined snakes, which immediately suggests she is one of the main villains. Benz Hui’s character is symbolized with a hippo, who looks gentle on the outside, but his real personality is irritable and full of aggression.
Dada Chen, Jeannie Chan, and Raymond Wong are symbolized with a fox, Lady Justice, and a buck respectively. Dada’s character will be full of seduction and the other two are kind-natured characters.
