Selena Li Shares Beauty and Health Tips
As a contestant from the Miss Hong Kong pageant in 2003 and opening a beauty school in 2010, Selena Li (李詩韻) knows a thing or two about maintaining a beauty regimen. Selena shares a few secrets on how she keeps her skin camera-ready.
Although Selena loves to eat, she said that moderation is key. “There is more cholesterol in shrimp than in red meat, especially at the head, so you can reduce the amount of cholesterol intake simply by removing the head before you eat it. Crabs are a different story because the best part of the crab is the shell. When it comes to eating crab – moderation is key. To reduce cholesterol, you can drink tuberous root tea (何首 烏) because it aides in stomach digestion. But be careful not to eat crab and drink the tea, because the heating effects of the crab will conflict with the cooling effects of the tea.”
“I normally have oatmeal for breakfast because it is the best source to lower cholesterol. Oatmeal has a high water content and it can help rid the toxins in the body. I like to add nuts in my oatmeal because it contains lots of proteins and vitamins. For the ones who don’t like oatmeal, they can replace it with soybean milk because the yellow bean content can also help lower cholesterol. I also have a habit of drinking a warm glass of water before I eat, because the water keeps me fuller so I eat less and minimize the chance of overeating. Water is also great for digestion and hydration. As an artist, our skin is always exposed to makeup which strips away moisture from the skin and causes dryness. Drinking water not only keeps our bodies hydrated but also keeps our skin supple and moist.”
Selena also stresses that exercise is important to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. “I try to do yoga and stretches when I have time, at least half an hour.” With all her beauty secrets and healthy eating habits, it is no wonder Selena always looks her best both onscreen and offscreen.

i hope selena will get more lead roles
I’m no expert at Chinese medicine, but Im pretty sure crab is yin, and thus a cooling effect.
Maybe it’s spicy and salty crab, depending on how u cook it:
Selena is so pretty and acts pretty well. Wish TVB can give her more opportunities. Selena, Fighting!
Selena has the beauty but her acting is not that convincing & overacting at times.
But if given more opportunities from TVB, she would definitely shine.
Awesome advice Selena, thanks 🙂 yah I think her acting is not bad…
I too would like to see more of her on TVB.
selina is one of the greatest petty girls who makes the guys wheewhee & salivate
I like her acting too!
And those are good tips 🙂
Selina, you got all the pluses: beauty, good acting skills and supportive fans, but TVB is unfair to you, it did not give you ample opportunities for lead roles, and assign you to the back burner
Everyone knows TVB is biased, selective, unfair and manipulative, you can blatantly see it on their intervention in the choice of TV awards.
In TVB, you must play politics, rub the right shoulders, polish the right shoes.
If not, why did Raymond lam fret and throw temper tantrums and declare not wanting to work for TVB when he didn’t win the TV King award, unless he knows that TVB have the final say, despite all the crab about 1 man 1 vote system.
I think her relationship w/ Patrick tang made her lose some opportunities in tvb.
I think so, too. Selena Li acted 2nd lead role in “The Herbalist’s Manual” in 2005, next to Michelle Yip, and she is still a borderline 1st lead – 2nd lead actress after 8 years.
As per Wikipedia, Selena Li has been nominated for Most Improved Actress in 11 years and Best Support Actress in 5 years. She has never got any awards in her acting career unfortunately. Aimee Chan, Natalie Tong, Sire Ma, Mandy Wong have surpassed her as they all got Most Improved Actress awards.
She really does sound like a Chinese sensei!
I wish she continues putting up YouTube videos!
water is indeed good for your health.I drink about 2 litres a day.
