Selena Li Shares Her Secret to Happiness
Since joining the entertainment industry in 2003 after participating in the Miss Hong Kong pageant, Selena Li’s (李詩韻) journey was not always a happy one. Her past relationships did not come to fruition. However, it looks like things are looking up for the 32-year-old who has since learnt the key to happiness.
Beauty Shines from a Healthy Body
Even with just minimal makeup, Selena’s skin glows with radiance. Believing that beauty and health are inseparable, Selena feels that the much-coveted inner glow can only be obtained through a healthy lifestyle rather than skincare and facials. She shared that she often researches beauty tips online. “Every day if you consume unhealthy food, not only will it affect your health, it will also show on your skin. So every morning, I will drink a glass of blended juice that is made up of celery, cucumber, bitter melon and green apples. It helps to clear my digestive system and clear my body of toxins.” Selena also tries to avoid red meat as well as coffee, eating more vegetables and fruits. Selena also thinks that exercise is not only good for the body, it is also good for one’s mentality.
Internal Happiness
While she has a morning routine to keep her skin in tip-top condition, she also has a nightly ritual to keep her inner peace. Every night, Selena will write down at least ten things that have made her happy for the day in a journal. No matter how small each item is, the point is for Selena to look back at her day positively. “Every time after I finish [the list], I will feel more relaxed. I understand that every situation has a good and bad side to it, and it is not necessary to always think of the bad.”
Playing Two Different Characters
Selena is currently filming Cold Mountain, Hidden Dragon <寒山潛龍> with Kenneth Ma (馬國明). In the period drama, she will play two different roles. In one role, she will play Tou Fa, a lively and courageous village girl from an ethnic minority group, who loves her husband (Kenneth Ma) deeply. Her other role is the polar opposite. Bo Mei Leong is a well-known courtesan who is well versed in music and calligraphy. Extremely beautiful, the emperor was also captivated by her beauty. Although playing two different roles proves to be a challenge, the well-written scripts and characters made it enjoyable for Selena, who could not wait for the release of the drama.

she is very hot but too bad the picture above makes her too much makeup.
Yea, in the above photo, she is wearing way too much make up.
That’s due to her role as Bo Mei Leong in Cold mountain hidden dragon.
i don’t sense she’s happy at all … she actually seems pretty unhappy.
pandamao,
I can’t read Selena that well, as her responses seem very neutral and don’t relay a lot of actual personal experience. Most of her recent interviews have been beauty-related, in which she shares info about her skin routine. A good chatty topic, but nothing deep about herself revealed.
I agree with Jayne that I do not know much about her since her past interviews and stuff are all about her skin and beauty tips. It seems so redundant. Also, for her to say that leading a healthy lifestyle gives her a nice complexion is good. However, for her say that skincare and facials is not needed is BS because there is no doubt that she uses it to keep up with her looks. It is kind of like Cindy Crawford using Botox and all but endorses that Meaningful Beauty product which is just a scam to make money. I wonder if Selena would dare to go out in public with a completely bare face to show how great her skin is and to prove that she does not need make up or skin care.
@HTS:

^ I think she’s talking about her INNER self (aka personality-wise, etc.), not the outer self (appearance).
I know that but I still bet that she still needs all of the make up, skin care, etc… I highly doubt that she can do without all of that.

^ She does.
She has a youtube channel where she teaches people how to do some makeup looks and whatnot.

I remember you used to say you don’t use skincare (or use minimal skincare) but you have smooth unblemished skin.
@Kidd,
Yes, I use very minimal skin care since my parents have always been strict on me using anything on my face, especially make up. They would kill me if I wear make up on a day to day basis. I guess you can say that I have smooth skin that is not blemished. But even if I did not have nice skin, my parents still do not want me to use too much skin care or anything because it is bad for you to use it too much. Artists of course have to use make up and all so that is understandable.
I think good skin is something that a person inherits from parents. If you have good skin, you need very little skin care, but if you don’t have good skin, good skin care will definitely help you a lot.
I also do not feel that she is happy at all but of course artists have to try to show that they are in public.
Not only that. If you’re very critical & observant enough, you will realize Selena’s face is also getting “stiffer” as the years pass by…….suggesting erhh…….you know i know lar……
I think she is beautiful and seems nice and not arrogant when she is being interviewed.
Haven’t seen her in any roles that bring out her qualities. TVB not doing good enough…
She looks like a porcelain doll… Way too much makeup Selena!!!
You’ll be more appreciated if you be clear with what you intent to tell us.
Honestly, you’re trying to say that she’s inching closer ti being a “PLASTIC” girl… It’s very hard to accept that, you know?
She can play 10 different roles on paper and she still looks, sounds and behave the same on screen.
In reality, selena is a very lonely, very depressed and very sad person if you care to me more observant on her facial expression and attitude towards her colleagues.
I don’t mind the heavy makeup here. I actually think she needs to reinvent herself with a makeover since she always seems to have the same hairstyle and makeup for every role. That’s probably why I liked her role in Awfully Lawful since her different looks actually help distinguish her from her other roles.
From the interview I have seen and read she seems compassionate and sincere person. N an interview she said she finished her studies abroad at her moms request ans gave up to be faan Dan a couple of years ago when she was popular with that ancient series.she also sail she was not fed with a silver spoon in her mouth which is common with people nowadays.
She is another TVB actress who cannot read and write Chinese. She immigrated to Toronto when she was about 5 or 6 years old and returned to Hong Kong after getting her B.Comm. at the University of Toronto. She seems to be fluent in Cantonese; I guess she speaks Cantonese at home. She returned to Hong Kong in 2003 to participate in Miss Hong Kong Pageant Show, and was the winner of Miss Talent and Miss Photogenic.
You’ll be more appreciated if you be clear with what you intent to tell us.
Honestly, you’re trying to say that she’s inching closer to being a disgusting “PLASTIC” girl… It’s very hard to accept that, you know?
Can’t wait for Selena’s new series. Hope if she can handle dual roles well. It’s really hard and challenging.
It is hard for some people who can play two roles. But, we’ll see about it
