“Shang Chi” Character Imaging Revealed
Pushed back several times due to the pandemic, the North American release of new Marvel superhero film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has once again been moved to September 3, 2021 from its previous February 12 release date. With details kept tightly under wraps since filming began, there was a collective hoo-ha when a glimpse into the character designs were revealed.
Revealed Costumes & Character Designs
Netizens recently shared photos of the film’s official merchandise, including action figures of Shang-Chi, Wenwu/ The Mandarin, Death Dealer and Xialing.
The toy figure of Wenwu, played by Tony Leung (梁朝偉), features two gigantic weapons, and the ten titular rings wrapped around his forearms. Wenwu’s imaging is switched up from The Mandarin from the original comic. Besides a short and crisp hairdo in the film version versus the original, another standout detail was how the ten mystical rings – a major focus of the film – appear on his forearms rather than fingers.
Playing Xialing, Chinese actress Meng’er Zhang’s (張夢兒) looks were also unveiled through her toy figurine replica, which included a rope.
Black Widow Second Trailer Released
Another upcoming Marvel epic film Black Widow, which will be simultaneously launched in the cinemas and on streaming platform Disney+, also released its latest teaser trailer. Besides the characters who have appeared in the previous teaser, the childhood version of black widow Natasha Romanoff also made an appearance, as played by Ever Anderson, the daughter of supermodel Milla Jovovich.
