Shang-Chi’s “Simu Liu” Tests Positive for COVID-19
Fast becoming the dominant Covid-19 variant, Omicron’s rampant run has besieged many parts of the world, with daily infected numbers reaching 100k in the US and many European countries. Simu Liu (劉思慕), lead actor of Marvel’s first Asian-led superhero film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings <尚氣與十環幫傳奇>, shared on social media on January 21 that he has tested positive for COVID-19, but fortunately experienced only mild symptoms so far.
Simu uploaded a picture of himself enjoying the popular winter sport while on vacation in Utah, and wrote, “I was wondering why I was so tired after a day of snowboarding and it turns out I had Omicron the whole time.” Revealing that he is doing fine, the Canadian actor said that he should be nicely recovered after proper isolation and rest. Thanking all the netizens and fans for their concern, he joked, “[Can’t believe] Omicron has got Shang Chi too.” American actor Ken Jeong, known for his role in The Hangover trilogy and who also appeared in Crazy Rich Asians, wished Simu a “speedy recovery.”
