“Squid Game” Actor O Yeong Su Found Guilty of Sexual Misconduct
Due to his stellar performance in Squid Game, O Yeong Su became the first South Korean actor to win a Golden Globe. His newfound success was marred with lawsuits in his personal life. Accused of sexual misconduct due to unwanted physical contact towards a woman known as Miss A in 2017, O Yeong Su was found guilty in court. However, the 79-year-old actor continued to proclaim his innocence and stressed he will “definitely appeal.”
Based on the consistency of Miss A’s claims, journal entries, and therapy consultations following the incident, the judge ruled in her favor. O Yeong Su was found guilty of unwanted physical contact against Miss A’s will, including hugging her, holding her hand, and kissing her on the cheek. O Yeong Su insisted he held Miss A’s hand simply to show her the way to a location as they were walking by a lake at the time.
As this was O Yeong Su’s first offense, he was sentenced to eight months in prison, two years of probation, and 40 hours of sexual violence courses. Due to the lawsuit, O Yeong Su experienced a complete halt in all work projects.
