Stephy Tang and Theresa Fu Are Friends Again
After a decade-long feud, ex-Cookies members Stephy Tang (鄧麗欣) and Theresa Fu (傅穎) finally broke the ice reportedly after watching Sammi Cheng’s (鄭秀文) concert earlier.
Both debuted in 2002 as members of Hong Kong girl band Cookies, and the two were initially good friends as they shared a dorm room together in the earlier days of their careers. However, after their contracts ended in 2005 and the two went separate ways, their bond also wore away.
Rumors of the two not being on good terms began in 2007 after Stephy found success and was heavily promoted by her management company. Theresa didn’t experience a smooth-sailing road to stardom and was said to be jealous of Stephy’s success.
During the 12-year feud, they did not invite each other to their birthday parties and made snide comments about each other’s career achievements. When Stephy won Best Actress at the 2017 Hong Kong Film Critics Awards, Theresa awkwardly commented to the media, “I haven’t contacted her in a while; I don’t want to do it suddenly. If there’s a chance, we’ll meet sooner or later.”
Stephy isn’t the only person Theresa was on bad terms with. As it turns out, the rest of the members of Cookies, including Angela Au (區文詩), Elaine Ho (何綺玲), Miki Yeung (楊愛瑾) and Kary Ng (吳雨霏), have also ousted the singer. Celebrating her birthday last year, Angela invited the rest of the members and Theresa was the only person absent from the group. When Elaine got married in 2014, Stephy and Kary were both at the wedding and once again, Theresa was a no-show.
However, Cookies fans can finally let out a sigh of relief as Stephy and Theresa have finally reconciled. Coincidentally having both watched Sammi’s concert, the two began following each other on Instagram – with Stephy being the only Cookies member on Theresa’s friends’ list.
