Steven Ma and Nancy Wu Shot an Embarrassing Bed Photo for “Beyond 2”

Steven Ma (馬浚偉) and Nancy Wu (胡定欣) went on a radio show to promote their upcoming television drama Deep in the Realm of Conscience <宮心計2深宮計>, a spiritual sequel to the 2009 TVB anniversary drama Beyond the Realm of Conscience <宮心計>. Deep will be one of six anniversary dramas for TVB’s 50th anniversary this year.

“Look back at our filmography, I’d say we’ve only collaborated in one together, 2012’s Daddy Good Deeds <當旺爸爸>,” said Steven. “But we didn’t share many scenes together, so we weren’t very close, and we didn’t talk much either. However, I do remember that one of our filming days ended up being on her birthday, so I gave her a teddy bear.”

Nancy, who’s birthday is on September 9, said, “It was a shock.”

The TVB stars grew much closer after working in Deep together. Steven and Nancy respectively play Emperor Xuanzong and Empress Wang of Tang.

“We play a very sweet couple,” said Nancy. “Too sweet. Actually I don’t think I ever had to play a character that is so sweet to her husband before. It’s to the point where I had to ask myself, was that too much?”

Steven and Nancy actually didn’t really talk about how to approach their relationship when they first got cast in their roles. “We’re both the kind of people who would do our own thing first before we start adjusting to our relationship on the show,” said Nancy. “But I really did feel like we were a married couple in the end.”

Steven said with a laugh, “I was actually worried we’d look more like brother and sister! Good thing I’ve kept myself well!”

The 45-year-old then talked about a “ground-breaking” scene he had with Nancy, who clarified, “It was an intimate bed. It was skin to skin. Steven was shirtless, yet we still had on our wigs.”

Steven had someone snap a photo of their scene as an official image, but when Nancy saw the photo, she immediately told Steven, “Please don’t share it! We can’t have this leak out! This is too much for me!”

“Honestly, it was a pretty photo,” said Steven. “I did use my body to cover her, but the way how the picture was taken made it looks like something was really happening.”

He then added with a laugh, “I already deleted the picture, but there’s a copy saved in the computer.”

  1. I am expecting the hair and costumes to fail and the story to suck but at least Steven to buffer the pain.

I hope this series learns a bit from Lost Love In Times where the women are smart (ish) and the men are smarter than dumber. In fact I am in camp Prince Ling whatever the timeline may be. pretty boy but a man and even Prince Zhan. This is how male princely characters should be written.

  2. Is it just me or has nearly every piece of promo info that has come out for this BTROC sequel so far had to do with sexual innuendos or whatnot? Seems like the entire series is about such and such artist kissing, having intimate bath scenes, bed scenes, wearing revealing costumes, etc. I can understand if the series is truly about that but if it’s not, then stop playing up the sex factor to attract attention….not that I was planning to watch the series anyway since I’m not too fond of the cast and never liked the original series to begin with, but still…
