Taiwanese Celebrities Become Fathers Before Marriage
With numerous Taiwanese superstars – such as Jay Chou (周杰倫) and Wang Lee Hom (王力宏) – getting married and becoming fathers in recent years, fans all over the world have been left heartbroken. The trend with the younger crop of male celebrities seems to be fathering a child before getting married.
Taiwanese-British actor Rhydian Vaughan (鳳小岳) who is unmarried recently announced on his Facebook that he is going to become a father. Rhydian’s fans quickly got over their shock and gave the 27-year-old their blessings.
Rhydian is already the third Taiwanese male celebrity to make such an announcement this year. The other two are Shiou Chieh Kai (修杰楷) and Chris Wang (宥勝).
Chieh Kai is in a fairly stable relationship with divorced Taiwanese actress Alyssa Chia (賈靜雯), and has loved her daughter Angelina Sun (梧桐妹) like his own. In May Chieh Kai announced that Alyssa is expecting their child. While the couple’s initial plan was to hold a wedding before Chieh Kai has to enter military service, Alyssa did not wish to be in a wedding dress while heavily pregnant. The couple thus decided to first register their marriage in August this year and hold a wedding ceremony after the baby is born.
As for Chris, he made the announcement by uploading a picture of his girlfriend’s ultrasound scan onto Facebook last October. In April this year, the couple delivered their baby girl, and Chris has since happily filled his social media feed with pictures of his precious little princess.
