Tavia Yeung Eyes Mainland China Opportunities in 2013

Following the footsteps of previous TV Queens, Tavia Yeung’s (楊怡) New Year wish is to find greater success in mainland China.

Tavia considers herself to be only a newcomer in the mainland market, despite sweeping the Best Actress television awards across Asia this year. Her last mainland role was in 2011’s The Emperor’s Harem <后宫>. “The most important thing is to have more people know me,” Tavia admitted that her recognition levels were lower than other TVB artists in mainland. After completing The Hippocratic Crush 2 < On Call 36小時>, Tavia will surely have more chances to participate in prominent mainland projects in the second half of the year, given TVB’s new joint venture, TVBC, is set to raise the profile of the company’s artists in China.

Tavia greeted 2013 happily, “I hope everyone can earn more money!” She thanked her fans for voting her for Best Actress at the 45th TVB Anniversary Awards and sang 3 songs at the Tai Po Mega Mall yesterday. Although her voice has strengthened from previous years, singing before a live crowd still stirred anxiety within Tavia, who preferred to focus on acting instead.

Although Tavia and Him Law’s (羅仲謙) romance is now a known secret, she skirted questions about her love life. “I know that everyone is concerned about my love life and when I will get married. Work is very important for me right now. If I were to get married, it is because I feel that the right moment has arrived. I’ll let things run their course.” Tavia added that she is very happy with her life right now.

  1. I hope your wish come true and act in more good drama series for us!! I really enjoy your wonderful performance in FF!!

  2. Really enjoy watching FF too. Four main casts’ performances are really excellent.

    1. The competition in China is really high too due to the larger number of actors and actresses that they have to go against. They were all trained in highly prestigious schools too…

  3. This Tavia woman is so money hungry… always on about gold digging.

    1. Well, she’s an actress….people need money to survive and live the way they like.

If she is really that into money..maybe she should save some of the money and stop injecting her nose full on gunk to make it bigger and bigger. She’s going to look like Gerard Depardieu soon.

    2. well yeah agree with Fai, she’s an actress lol and of course everyone wants to make a lot of money.
since tvb doesnt pay as well as China… everyone wants to make more..duh…

    3. I think all people are to some extent, but sadly she seems more into it than others… Especially in HK where the standard of living is sooo high… However, she does not need to be so vocal about it all the time…

      1. There is nothing wrong with being more vocal about it. She’s very direct and straight out honest about it,she has nothing to hide. At least she isnt putting on a fake attitude towards expressing her goals and outlook towards life. Down to earth actress.

Even if she’s injecting her nose, at least she can earn that money to do such a thing. She has the ability to earn herself a living, so she can decide how ever she wants to spend her money. Who is to decide or tell her how to manage her finance? lol.

      2. I think that it is still not necessary to be vocal about money all the time because it will give people the impression that that is all she cares for. You don’t need to be fake or anything, but there are times that you don’t need to be too real and honest. Many enter the circle for money which is obvious so what is the point of re-emphasizing the want and desire for money?? If I were a guy, I personally would not want to be with a girl that just cared for money and always talked about it. It would be really annoying..

      3. Yes I agree with you 110% 🙂

Wonder if she can not mention the word “money” in an interview? Prolly not, hehe

      4. Tavia only talks about money no matter what the media asks her.

Reporter: what do you have planned this year?
        Tavia: make $$$$$$

Reporter: how is your relationship with him?
Tavia: no time, just want to make $$$$$$$

Reporter: do you want to win the award?
Tavia: yes, but i want $$$$$$

Reporter: cti asked you to join them?
Tavia: don’t know, I want to make $$$$$$$

Reporter: what do you want for Christmas?
        Tavia; $$$$$$$$$$$

I made a few of them up, but if reporters did ask the exact question tavia will always say $$$$$$$$$.

      5. She’s probably partly joking and using it as a way to deflect serious questions. And you know how people tend to find it refreshing/endearing when celebrities are straightforward? Perhaps that’s what she’s going for, but she has gone a bit overboard with it…

      6. I like how this is such a simple article about tavia’s future plans and somehow people can interpret it as she loves money too much????!!!!

      7. Because every article she is the one talking about money. Nobody forced her to talk about money. Lots to talk about. Some find it refreshing, some find it annoying you know. Can’t have an opinion?

      8. Haha Coca, yes your post sum it up pretty well i.e whatever questions asked it always end up with money, money and more money.

She should play a money hunger who will do anything for money and later become crazy. I can’t wait for that series, LOL

    4. She’s just working hard and earning more money to make a living and supporting her family. What is wrong with that? At least she is not relying on someone to give her money. That’s gold digging.

      1. True but no need to always talk about it. Also, who can she rely on?? Her father has passed away and I am not sure what her mom does. Her sister is married so who can she rely on?? I do admire her for being independent and all, but still don’t need to talk about money all the time.

    5. she works for her money not marrying rich old guy so stop saying she is a gold digger please. Who does not want money?

    6. I watch her interview n she did not say much digging money. She emphasized more on getting more job n accomplish her current work more important to her. Well, still earning money also important to her.

      1. Earning money is important to everyone on earth. That’s the realistic of living.

    7. Coco,

Of course you’re entitled to your opinion, but am I incorrect for saying that this was intended to be a rather simple article about Tavia’s future plans? And somehow it moves on to people like you and others of course who interpret negatively where she’s a gold digger, needs to shut up about money, she’s getting annoying etc etc. If she’s getting so “annoying” about it, why are you even giving a second of your time or perhaps a few minutes to read about her news and comment on here?

“Nobody forced her to talk about money. Lots to talk about.” — Coco
^ So you would rather have a celebrity who lies, not truthful, full of BS, instead of speaking what her intentions are for her own future? Mm, I gotcha. Oh, sorry. I misinterpreted your simple words, haven’t I?

Well to be serious, she is an actress and she is known to have a very straight forward personality. I don’t see whats wrong with her expressing that her goal in the near future is to make money. Do realize, some of the questions, especially those about her love life and scandals, she just uses the money answer to avoid answering or saying the wrong things.

      1. Besides talking about money tavia does not know what else to talk about? She only knows money and everything else is bs or lies? Gotcha

Why can’t I have an opinion about what she says? You see it one way, I see it another. Who says your opinion is right? You interpret her as real and truthful, I find it off putting and annoying. Some people are so sensitive.

      2. I am bored and I like to mess with people like you. You people get so mad over the slightest negative thing about your own idol. You don’t like my opinion you can ignore it too, why are you spending so much time replying?

      3. Mess with people like me? Mad? No, I am not mad. Just like how you’re expressing your opinions, I am simply agreeing or disagreeing to your remarks. That is all. Who sounds mad again? Certainly not me, thus I am replying. Also, Tavia is not my idol, another assumption from you just because I defended her.

      4. @Raina: Well said and nice comeback.

@Coca: I think you definitely over analyzed what Raina was saying. You’re both absolutely entitled to your opinions, but Raina was not trying to offend you. She was merely trying to make a point in saying that this article’s sole purpose was to let Tavia’s fans know what she is planning for her future which is to enter the Mainland market to earn a bit more money. Yet, non-fans, assuming you aren’t a fan of hers, talk about her greed for money? And before you say Tavia is my idol, she isn’t, I only feel that some celebrities have unjust words thrown at them.

      5. Honored.

@Raina: Random question, how old do you think the pool of commentors are on JayneStars now? I’ve followed JayneStars way before the new revamped site, as in even before Jayne got sick, I believe? But my, things have changed…haha or I could be just old?

      6. LOL Jing. I wouldn’t dare say how old I think these people are as I’m afraid I’ll stir up hate and bad interpretations of my words.

But I too was following JayneStars way back, and yes even before she was sick. I have to say I was never vocal on the comment page in the past, but only two months ago have I emerged. And definitely, there is a notable difference in commentors in the past vs present. I’m going to stop there before I say too much. “Discipline is key.”

      7. Well said Raina & Jing. Celebrities seriously have plenty of unjust words thrown at them just because there are haters.

      8. So sad, has to deflect the question into indirect bashing. Thought you find tavia refreshing with her realness. If you don’t dare comment what’s the paragraph you wrote?

If tavia doesn’t talk about money everything else she says is bs? Is that what you are saying? Are you implying those that don’t talk about money are talking bs and lying? Isn’t that majority of them? So only tavia is real? Ok gotcha.

Just for the record, tavia isn’t perfect and not everyone has to like her or agree with with what she does. Just because I don’t agree does not make me a hater. Just like how you said you aren’t a fan because you support her actions.

      9. @Coca

This website does not support anything negative said about Tavia or Raymond Lam. They will target and bully you till you stop replying.

      10. @Coca: No one is bashing you. If anything, you were the one who started to be rude and very self defensive. Also, youre pulling Raina’s words out of context and misinterpreting every word. I thought I did a good job in explaining what she wanted to say? I guess not.

@Wildberries: I am glad you realize there are a lot of negative things being said about both tavia and raymond on this site.

      11. This whole entire debate sounds like a parent vs her child. Child says something, parent says another. Child don’t like it, goes out on a limb to prove parent wrong. Please, this is social media, people who bash and hate on celebrities need to realize the second you say your opinions whether it falls under criticisms, opinions or pure bogus, expect to be challenged and it ain’t bullying. On a more happy note, the stuff you children be saying shows your youth and to some extent pure embarrassment for yourselves. On a more scary note you guys are lucky this is social media where alot of things said you can get away with of course im talking about the negative stuff.

      12. When you have 3 or 4 people targeting the same person for one opinion you disagree upon and straying off topic to bash that person indirectly is bullying. Anybody that can read can tell what Jing and Raina said about children and name calling is an obvious bash. It fairs no better than those that bash celebrities. And comparing a child with an adult is obviously name calling which is part of bullying.

I was just telling Coca this website has people that does not take negative comments well which is true. One negative comment towards either Tavia/Raymond and you get a bunch of people (who claims to not be fans) targeting the same person. Actually, not targeted, it’s called “challenged” by adults.

      13. I’m sorry that you feel what I’ve said or what others have said appears to be “bullying.” But, was I not simply commenting on Coca’s opinion by stating that this article’s purpose was just to show to Tavia’s fans her future plans? Yet, there were still negative remarks being made with no substantial evidence. Yes, it was an opinion at first and was I wrong to disagree with her opinion? And as for everyone else who took my side of the argument, some people react strongly to what they feel is the more correct way to handle situations and others are more nonchalant about it, then there are others who ridicule. But is this not all part of social networking? This is no where near cyber bullying. There is a difference between a cyber bully who constantly targets, CONSISTENTLY FOR OVER MONTHS, at one person vs someone on the net who is starting a debate over a matter and others join in, Jing, Smile and yourself to have an open discussion.

And I never compared her or anyone about being children. I was asked a broad question, “How old do you think some of these commentors are on this site” I interpreted the question as the general population who comments on this site and I replied with compared to the early 2000s JayneStars site and now, there is a notable age difference between the commentors and it is evident in how one responds, writes, and comprehends. That was all. As for the others, they’re subjected to their own opinions and why they feel the “youth”, you would have to ask them personally and directly.

I’m going to say this again, I am not a fan of Tavia or Raymond. My favorites were the older generations i.e. Sheren Tang, Joyce Tang, Gigi Lai, Noel Leung etc. Just like how people agree with some of the bashing on Tavia and Raymond, there is always going to be people from the other side and sometimes its not from fans who are going to object. It happens all the time. In a sense, celebrities, in my eyes are the most pitiful things on this planet.

The word “challenged” isn’t meant only for adults. Anywhere, anytime, no matter the age, when an opinion is made, you’re almost always going to have to be prepared to be “challenged”.

I’m sure you realized that it goes both ways by now. I’ve seen real, die-hard fans of Tavia and Raymond who speaks fondly of them and in the end more than 3-4 people bash them for their “tastes” or something with their plastic surgery. So then, for those that made those negative remarks to the fans, where were their thoughts of, “I need to stop. I don’t even know this person. I think I’ve said too much.” And when those fans or whoever retaliate with words that hurt your ears, the never ending barking rages on.

Of course this isn’t anyone’s fault. This is the nature of social media, the continuous baffling of words.

      14. You sound like someone that should understand right from wrong. When you question the age of certain people on this website after you “challenged” Coca’s comments, its an obvious jab at her. There’s lots of places where that question can be asked in an appropriate manner, ie. the bottom of the page?

Bullying does not need to be months of stalking or name calling in order to be classified as bullying. Name calling is a part of bullying – even if its just once. Having 4 people calling her names, calling her a hater, questioning her age and quality of her comments. The worst offence is comparing her to a child (that is viewed as insignificant to an adult) and an adult because her views are different from the rest of you. Wow, sure that’s not bullying.

      15. WildBerries,

I did not question her age, that comment was not from me. I merely answered a question thrown at me and took in consideration the general sample size of this site, some of the commentors are evidently “younger” (& I’m sure you feel that jist too). I was not pointing fingers at Coca and her age was never a factor when I was exchanging opinions with her.

I’m not too sure why you’re still going on about the bullying thing. Please read my comments and the others, we’ve been saying over and over again, “our point is… so and so…stop making interpretations on our words” and then some have chosen to use mocking tones, but in no way is that bullying. Bullying is a lot more serious and certainly this doesn’t even come close to what impaired damage bullying can do. As I’m sure Coca would only be offended by some words and protecting her stance, but I do not see this as bullying. If this even makes a case for bullying, then the entire social networking is nothing more than promotion of bullying. Same concept, where haters, non-fans, people in general bash celebrities, are you all not bullying them? Or because they’re celebrities, they automatically don’t have their human rights?

Also, please take a look at her words to me. It started off with her comments about her getting “annoyed” with Tavia’s money comments and I didn’t see what was wrong with an actress saying that. Please look at my three long paragraphs, notice the transition in tone. I began questioning and stating some facts, later to satire (I think this is where some got mixed feelings. Some understood what I was saying, others thought I was down right trying to attack.) Finally, I was being serious and those were my thoughts and could possibly be the reason why Tavia keeps using the term “money” in her interviews.) Then she bombarded me with countless questions and statements that had no follow ups e.g. “you people get mad over the slightest negative thing about your own idol” (when I’m not a fan) “tavia isnt perfect..” (I never said she was perfect…) and this whole paragraph right here “If tavia doesn’t talk about money everything else she says is bs? Is that what you are saying? Are you implying those that don’t talk about money are talking bs and lying? Isn’t that majority of them? So only tavia is real?” I don’t even know how she came to those conclusions…

@the bottom of the page remark, well someone had to spark someething in that person to make him/her say that?

      16. I wasn’t even talking to anyone in particular. I just say what I see. Every comment that comes out of tavia’s mouth it’s always money. I said earlier, lots to talk about not just money. Most people don’t talk about money every time they are asked a question. I am not the only one that said this, why just challenge me?

Call me a hater or whatever but I only said what I see in other interviews and not just this one. I gave examples in other situations. But some can’t see that and decides to say how they don’t see a simple interview can run into this and that. If its just one interview then of course it makes no sense. But in almost every interview tavia answers with $$$$$.

Just because I don’t say anything nice does not make me a hater, like you claim to be not a fan yet you defend her. So funny.

      17. Tomorrow is going to be 1/5/2013. Another brand new day. None of you seem like bad people just opposing views. Why so serious? Move on, get over it.

      18. Last thing I’ll be saying on this
“Just because I don’t say anything nice does not make me a hater, like you claim to be not a fan yet you defend her. So funny.”

When defending a person it does not mean you must be a fan or even be that person’s friend, its a matter of what the situation is. Where as, speaking negative things, you may not be a hater, but there are a dozen other synonyms you can use to characterize what you’re doing… yes it is that much more worse when you’re spreading negative-tism vs positive-tism.

Haha, good year to all of you. Back to being a silent reader.

      19. @ Raina
I am bystander and watching this argument past 48 hours. You started the argument :-

” If she’s getting so “annoying” about it, why are you even giving a second of your time or perhaps a few minutes to read about her news and comment on here?”

You cleaver twisting words, go apply TVB script writer , you will do well

      20. Oh and that comment wasn’t to offend you before I disappear and I see people misinterpreting the words again. I’m just saying, life is a lot easier if you don’t speak the negative and promote the positive and you have nothing good to say keep it to yourself. Then none of this would have happened. Okay, I’m gone foreal. Nice encounters with all of you. Happy New Year! Cheerios!

      21. .
        @Raina

Everyone have the right to give opinions. We are not attending a lecture . Coca explain clearly ” Why can’t I give my opinion?

      22. @Sosoma, im actually quite enjoying this argument. your right, she is really clever and its good to know we still have someone like her in this world. i dont think she started the argument if you scroll up, raina began asking “I like how this is such a simple article about tavia’s future plans and somehow people can interpret it as she loves money too much????!!!!” and then coca responded with “Because every article she is the one talking about money. Nobody forced her to talk about money. Lots to talk about. Some find it refreshing, some find it annoying you know. Can’t have an opinion?” <—she had a kinda sorta hostile tone in her last question… well im glad they're still battling, its amusing.

      23. How is this still going on? People can’t take opinions? People can’t take sarcasm? People can’t interpret things correctly? People can’t take negative remarks? People can’t take negative remarks from their own negative remarks? Wow. But @sosoma and @sweetcoffee Raina is really clever I have to agree with that. She is probably one of the very few people on this site who can speak a clear argument and stick with it and more so defending it. Only other person I noticed who can do this is Funn Lim. Props to you both.

      24. @ sweetcoffee

1st tone:- where is my coffee????!!!!

2nd tone:- where is my coffee ?

which tone you prefer if I ask for a cup of sweet coffee from you?
Please get a cup Flat White and enjoy the cat fight

  4. So many of these HK and Taiwanese stars are running to Mainland China for the money. I have not watched any of these C-productions involving these stars, except for BBJX. Can anyone tell me if these C-dramas with the likes of Bosco Wong, Myolie Wu, Roy Qiu etc., in it are any good?

  5. She won’t survive in Mainland. I can’t see her getting famous there. She don’t think she will gain any popularity since she doesn’t really have that “China” elegant look which people tend to go for. I think Fala Chen, Myolie Wu and Kate Tsui has a higher chance to succeed in China cause they have that ancient chinese look (since a lot of china films are dynasty time) and they are pretty in a china way. Tavia is too Hong Kong and her mandarin isn’t good enough.

    1. lolz. that must be yr very own view only. nobody has ever said Kate has any chinese good look esp for dynasty filming. while Tavia’s portrayal in dynasty series have always gained her praises for her ancient beauty. she has always been leveled as next to Ada Choi’s ancient beauty. u must be kidding but only works for yrself!

      1. Before plastic nose she looks alike Yang Guifei.
After plastic nose she look like Hong Kong si-lai

      2. wow, your the first person I heard from that thinks tavia doesnt have that ancient look! surprised.

I personally think she has the prettiest ancient look among the fadans and will make it far in the mainland market because of that factor.

      3. I agree with Doris. She looked ancient before in Twins of Brother, Eternal Happiness but now she looks more “mature” and “facial change” that she can’t really pull off the chinese ancient look unless she slaps on a lot of make-up and korean eyeliner shape.

      4. Tavia will do fine in the mainland market. She def can take on the ancient roles as make up is always a factor for any productions.

    2. Well all stars in China get dubbed anyways so it doesn’t matter how her mandarin is. Whether she will survive or not, only time can tell. However, IF she does or not will not be because of whether she has that ancient Chinese look or not. That is just your opinion only. The competition in CHina is really high and even if you had that ancient look that you mentioned, that is not a guarantee that you will succeed. By the way, NOT all China series are ancient…

      1. my earlier point was to counter stars’ point on Tavia’s non-ancient look.

HeTieShou is absolutely right that whether an artist manage to make a breakthrough in mainland market will not be based on ancient look only. With Tavia’s excellent acting skills in any portrayal, she will survive in whatever era’s role given.

        Again, only time will tell.

      2. Yes, not all china series are ancient but most of the ones that make people famous are the ancient china series since people are really into them. Can you name a modern china series that have made a person famous? I’m not saying “ancient chinese look” will guarantee but it is an advantage. Yes, you are right my opinion is that she will not succeed. Her acting is good for Hong Kong People but I’m not sure about China but only time will tell and she has the time to prove people like me wrong.

P.s. Hawick lau should be in the list of getting popular in China.

      1. then you should not be reading news about her then. Geez.

    3. I find Tavia to be one of those actresses who looks more beautiful in ancient costume than modern attire.

      1. Second to Kidd but she is looking really beautiful in FF too 😀

    4. Her age also a problem. Filming in china is competitive. With her age she has less roles to play and more talented actresses to compete against.

      1. That is true. Too many young & pretty artist that can cast all the innocent roles. Tavia is losing out on this.

  6. I remember her winning some newcomer award in Mainland many years back for her role as Sau Ning, since then she has a following over there for her ancient roles. Just the past yr, she is also nominated for Best Actress in a Mainland Drama award for her role in Royal Harem(her first mainland drama.) This yr she got nominated again for On Call. She is the only female TVB artist to have this honor. I think she has the looks and the talent, but just not enough promotion from TVB before.

Friendly Fire also scored higher ratings on an online Mainland site above all the Mainland shows. After she won Best Actress, they were the most enthusiastic about her win, inviting her to many major Mainland events to celebrate and sing. Her following on weibo also shows how well liked she is as well.

    1. Not enough promotion from tvb? You dreaming for the past few year? She has the most leading series than any other female actress in tvb.

      1. Tavia is not a contracted artist therefore aside from drama promotions, she isn’t being marketed anywhere but that goes for all TVB artists. I don’t think Tavia is the one with the most leading series. Linda Chung is the one with heavy promotions and leading about 3-4 series per year.

  7. Friendly Fire is an awesome drama! It’s so funny 🙂 I wish Tavia success this year~She is a great actress!

    1. Yup yup, FF is indeed an awesome series due to all the superb casts! Excellent!

      1. Agree, I live the cast in FF, mostly Tavia, michael, and Sammy. Still trying to get used to Sharon as the lead, but she’s doing well so far.

  8. this hair length suits her very much. She looks feminine and pretty with this hair length.

    1. Agreed! Her hair length in FF was awesome too giving an independent & pretty look the same time.

  9. Which HK artrist is famour in Mainland??? just want to know…thx

      1. how about Raymond, Bosco and Ron? Are they all have some sort of drama/series in Mainland?

      2. @ DL

Raymond, Ron and Bosco has all filmed in Mainland series before, but, not a lot I believe.

    1. One that pops up in my head is Wallace Chung. There are many others as well… I can’t remember at the moment…

    2. DL,
Kevin Cheng, Wallace Chung, Raymond Lam, Charmaine Sheh, Ada Choi, Benny Chan, Michelle Yim, Gallen Lo and Sheren Tang are pretty popular in mainland China. Myolie Wu and Bosco Wong are beginning to spend more time in China, with their popularity bound to increase as well.

      1. thanks…Wallace Chung and Benny Chan are not popular in HK…But I think they all work very hard…well done!

    3. Addition to Jayne’s list

Patrick Tam, Julian Cheung, Steven Ma, Sammul Chan, Rain Li, Michelle Ye.

      1. none of those are very popular in TVB…that is okay…that mean don’t have to be popular in TVB in order to popular! (Steven Ma used to film a lot in TVB, but never got an award)…I am just saying the fact…no favor or against an artist…thx for all the info..:)

      2. poor Sammual Chan, he looks petty handsome but never get promoted in TVB…good to know that he is doing well in Mainland!

      3. Yeah, I think Sammul is doing really good there. I watched his series with Ruby Lin 😉

  10. Well well well, not a surprise here. Already trying to take every advantage after being TV Queen. This is the truth, and not much of a speculation for any actor or actress. When opportunities come, take it. Because nothing lasts forever. 2013 will be another TV queen.

  11. She will be successful in China.

In the past, she only filmed 1 ancient series in China cuz her stupid contract with TVB which has to film tvb series non-stop.

She has an ancient chinese look. I personally really like her ancient looks in 宮心計, 后宫 and 回到三國

    1. But she is not regret about the contract with TVB…on her speech when she get the TV gueen…she is thankful that she contract with TVB so that she has so many drama/series in TVB and also TVB will give her the TV gueen!

  12. Feel sorry for TVB ,after their artist win best actor/actress they move to mainland

    1. I think TVB already know that and prepare for that…if they are still in TVB contract…TVB might get commission…anymore, TVB know how to make money that you or me 🙂

  13. Boy, that’s exactly what we need, another HK celeb “heads north to dig gold.”

  14. She won’t stand a chance in China. She has no look and her acting is just average. Also, with the work she done to her face (yes, not just the nose..also, her eyes and the cheeks)..she doesn’t have the natural expressions anymore.

Tavia definitely not suited for any roles that is younger than mid thirties. She just looks too ‘old’ looking.

    1. agreed. there are lots of more talented prettier and younger actresses in mainland. tavia will more likely casted as supporting roles maybe that’s why she hasn’t filmed anything since that series with ady an and only stay in tvb. wait she was supporting in that series too with only 40K per episode fees, lowest among the first line artistes who went to mainland.

    2. The competition is really tough and high in China. It will depend on her connections and luck as well… There are MANY really young, pretty and talented actresses in China so she is going up against a lot of competition. But hey as long as she can make money, it doesn’t matter if she plays leading or supporting roles.

    3. That’s true, competition is tough in China although the huge market will give her more $$$ than TVB. She may gain more money, but it will be very, verrryyy hard for her to be a top actress in China and consistently leading in mainland dramas.

  15. only time will tell if she will make it!

    GO tavia! add oil!

  16. There is only 1 way to make it in China market and that is to go there full time. So I doubt Tavia will make it there so to speak although she will get her worth in a few appearances. But competition is tough, looks, age and talent wise.

    1. Funn,

I am glad you pointed out and realized that tavia is only going to be there for a few roles and that alone is enough in terms of monetary policies.

I don’t know how some of the others came up with their interpretations of her success gold digging remarks.
