Tavia Yeung is Ready for a New Identity
Newlywed Tavia Yeung (楊怡) was recently interviewed by veteran actress Nancy Sit (薛家燕) and Bob Lam (林盛斌) on their radio show. During the program, Nancy presented Tavia with a fresh bouquet of flowers and a “double happiness” (囍) board, instructing Tavia to make sure to hang the board on her bed while she’s “sleeping” with her husband, Him Law (羅仲謙).
“Once you hang this, you’re going to have to go to bed!” said Nancy with a laugh. “Make sure it’s hanging on the bed so when you look at it, it’ll remind you of what you should do. Hang it tonight! Is Him in Hong Kong? If he is, hang it!” Bob added, “Be mindful of your body temperature!”
Tavia Wants to Have Kids “Eventually”
Tavia took this interview opportunity to once again address the reports about whether or not she would have children. Opening up about her family plans, the 36-year-old said, “I will not purposely plan for it.” (But are you ready for a baby?) “I am ready to take on my new identity. I am learning how to take care of my family, and also hope to take care of myself so I’ll be prepared when I do have children in the future.”
The Last Healer in Forbidden City <末代御醫> actress said she doesn’t mind getting asked about her “intimate” relationship with her husband, saying, “We are all just having a great laugh. Besides, now that I’m married, I do expect to have children.”
As Tavia and Him are currently busy with the preparations for their year-end wedding banquet in Hong Kong, the couple are not planning to have children soon. However, the actress admitted that having children is something she has always kept to mind. “Let’s take everything one step at a time. I’ll start the next page in my life after this banquet is done.”
Ended Contract with TVB
Tavia’s management contract with TVB, which she has been tied to since 1999, expired on April 1. Now a free agent, Tavia is looking forward to taking on more projects that were previously unavailable for her. Nonetheless, she maintained that she still has a very close relationship with TVB and plans to collaborate with the broadcaster under different circumstances.
“It’s been so many years after all. I chose to be free so I can have more options. I may further develop my career in the mainland or try other things. I may work with TVB again, but under different circumstances. If I am offered a suitable script I’ll definitely take it.”
Nonetheless, Tavia said she won’t be appearing in new projects any time soon this year. “I don’t think I’ll be making anything new, at least not in the next few months. I have other things to work on.”
So does Tavia consider The Last Healer in Forbidden City her last TVB drama? Tavia laughed and said, “Don’t say it like that. I’ll still make more dramas, it just won’t be as frequent as before. Maybe film only one to two dramas per year.”
In regards to TVB’s new rival station ViuTV affecting the ratings performance of The Last Healer in Forbidden City, Tavia said, “I also watch ViuTV. I watched my own drama as well. As people we should always try to take in new things. This is a healthy competition and it’s great to know that the audiences now have more things to watch.”
