Tavia Yeung Praised for Performance in “Darkside of the Moon”

Tavia Yeung’s (楊茜堯) new drama Darkside of the Moon <黑色月光> aired to positive reception and heated discussions online. In addition to the exciting storyline, Tavia’s acting skills and range of emotions garnered much praise.

Responding to the positive reception, Tavia expressed, “When the audience watches dramas now, they may not enjoy exaggerated acting. Instead, they enjoy watching realistic emotions and emotional depth. Viewers are able to analyze my expressions and get into the character with me.”

A hot contender for TV queen, Tavia expressed, “It’s important to have confidence. There are a lot of dramas that have been well-received this year, but there is only one award. We’ll leave it to the audience to decide. I don’t put too much emphasis on awards and will approach with a neutral mindset. The drama has already been praised, so that is already a win for me. Winning an award is just the cherry on top and will give me another boost in my career. It will be a very beautiful memory. However, the most important thing to me are my children and their future. I’d like to continue challenging myself to reach the next level. An award will give my children an example of what hard work can accomplish and motivate them.”

Nancy Wu (胡定欣) is also a hot contender for the award this year. On how she feels about the competition, Tavia said, “My biggest competitor is myself. Just as the quote in the drama says, ‘The higher you go, the higher the chance for you to fall harder.’ There’s no need to make everyone your enemy. We are all competing fairly and equally. I am fortunate to have landed such an amazing role that allowed me to showcase my acting skills. The most important thing is how I use this opportunity to achieve a breakthrough within myself.”

Despite the dark themes of the drama, Tavia emphasized her character is not considered a villain, as she is simply seeking revenge and conveys hate. On how her husband Him Law (羅子溢) is reacting to her character’s dark side, Tavia joked, “He says my inner self is finally coming out. All these years together, I have only been pretending to be a good wife and mother. I joked and asked that he just realized this now?”

Tavia shared about home life and their roles as parents, “Him is responsible for playing with the children. I am responsible for all the logistics, such as school events, homework, and extracurricular activities.”

Starring onscreen with her sister Griselda Yeung (楊卓娜) in Darkside of the Moon, Tavia initially worried about awkwardness. Since the sisters have a good relationship off-screen, their bond naturally flowed on-screen.
