Team Jay Chou Loses to Team Na Ying In “The Voice of China 4”

The fourth season of the Chinese reality talent show The Voice of China <中国好声音> held its season finale at the “Bird’s Nest” Beijing National Stadium on Wednesday, October 7, and aired live on Zhejiang Television. Contestant Zhang Lei (张磊), who is coached by Chinese singer Na Ying (那英), climbed to victory with his performance of Xu Wei’s (许巍) “Traveling” <旅行>. This is Na Ying’s third year to win Best Coach. Contestant Queen T (陈梓童), coached by Jay Chou (周杰伦) achieved runner-up status with her performance of Jay Chou’s own “Black Humor” <黑色幽默>.

Tan Xuanyuan (谭轩辕), under Harlem Yu’s (庾澄庆) team, finished the competition in third place. Wang Feng’s (汪峰) pupil Bei Bei (贝贝) finished fourth, while Jay Chou’s other contestant Leon Lee (李安) finished last.

The Voice of China competition began in June 2015 with the start of blind auditions. The four coaches—Harlem Yu, Wang Feng, Na Ying, and Jay Chou, each coached 12 artistes. The first episode premiered on July 17.

Wednesday’s final episode started off with a surprise appearance by JJ Lin (林俊傑) and Jimmy Lin (林志穎). The duo, dressed in black and white, performed “Clan Wars” <全面开战>, the Chinese theme song for the video game Clash of Clans.

During the segment in which the coaches performed wit their pupils Jay Chou sang his 2014 single “Extra Large Shoes” <鞋子特大号> with Queen T and his 2005 single “Hair Like Snow” <发如雪> with Leon Lee. Na Ying and her pupil Zhang Lei performed her classic song “Just a Dream” <梦一场> and Ma Di’s (马頔) “South of the Southern Mountains” <南山南>. Wang Feng and his artiste Bei Bei chose to single the duet song “The Rock Is Singing” <石头在歌唱>, while Harlem Yu and his pupil Tan Xuanyuan performed “I Swing the Most” <我最摇摆>.

The contestants from the first four seasons of The Voice of China will be coming together this December for The Voice of China 2015 Hong Kong Concert, which will be held in the Hong Kong Coliseum on December 5.
