Terrance Lau Embroiled in Blackmail Scandal
After his breakout performance in film Beyond the Dream <幻愛>, Terrance Lau (劉俊謙) continued to earn praise for his performance in ViuTV drama Leap Day <二月廿九>. Just as his stardom is rising higher, Terrance Lau‘s (劉俊謙) name became linked to indecent photos which were part of a larger blackmail scandal.
The scandal first started with 20-year-old Taiwanese basketball star Jonah Morrison (譚傑龍). Three years ago, he met a cam girl through a dating app and many explicit videos and photos were taken without his consent. He was later blackmailed in exchange for these pictures. Taiwanese police have since arrested a Mr. Tsui from Hong Kong who was selling these videos online, and a Mr. Lau who had blackmailed the basketball star.
Apparently, the extortionists had blackmailed their victims between $100 to $1000 Hong Kong dollars per video. If they were public figures, then the price would go up to HK$2,500. The victims of their blackmail include over 20 basketball players and models.
The list also included the name Terrance Lau, and there was allegedly a video of him smiling towards the camera, biting his tongue, and licking his lips. His pants are also half off, exposing his buttocks and the shadow of his genitalia through his underwear.
When Terrance’s manager Stephanie learned of the situation, she immediately reached out to Terrance to learn more details. The actor told her that he had never taken any indecent photos. The most revealing photo he had ever taken was when he was a part of the swim team or when his classmates played a prank on him while in school. Terrance has always been dependable and earned his manager’s 100 percent trust in him.
Many of Terrance’s friends and family were worried after the news was released, so he immediately explained the situation so that they could be at ease. Terrance further elaborated on his classmate’s prank, “When I was in acting school, there was a time when my crazy classmates would suddenly launch a surprise attack and take photos. When you’re in school, there are always some classmates who are more playful. These photos bring back a lot of memories for us. I don’t understand why there would be rumors of indecent photos. Everyone can rest assured, and I really hope that no one will be influenced by false news!”
