“The Great Five Eunuchs” to Film in 2013

Immediately following the successful broadcast of The Confidant <大太監> last year, TVB had announced that the cast will return for a spin-off series. Raymond Cho (曹永廉) confirmed that he has already received notice that the new drama, The Great Five Eunuchs <太監五虎>, will film at the end of the year.

The Confidant marked a turnaround point in Raymond Cho’s acting career, in which he received critical praise for his portrayal of complex character, An Dehai. The 50-year-old openly admitted that three years ago, shortly after he became a father, Raymond became financially stressed and depressed, even contemplating suicide.

The Year of the Snake is off to a promising start for Raymond, who will have a guest star role in heavily anticipated medical drama, The Hippocratic Crush 2 <On Call 36小時II>. Although Raymond will be reunited with The Confidant cast in The Great Five Eunuchs, the script will feature a new story line.

Car Damage

While meeting with his in-laws, John Chiang (姜大偉) and Maggie Lee (李琳琳), for a Lunar New Year’s Eve meal, Raymond drove his 7-passenger car into the parking lot without checking the height of the entrance carefully. In his haste, Raymond damaged the roof of his car and scratched the top.

“My wallet is definitely hurt. The car door can be dismantled, but the roof cannot and will require the entire top to be fixed! On Wednesday, when I go to Taiwan for vacation, I will take the car for repair. It doesn’t matter how much it costs, the car must be fixed,” Raymond lamented.

Despite an early attack on his wallet in the beginning of the year, Raymond’s career is off to a promising start as he will be starring in big-budget TVB productions this year.

    1. I’m surprised too! I thought he was in his mid 30s or early 40s as well. He still looks pretty young 🙂

    2. Raymond Cho has a baby face. He is good looking, but a bit short for a 1st lead role. I like his voice too, but he speaks with some lazy intonations. I hope he will get rid of them soon.

      1. How tall is he?
Haha not that it matters and I never really noticed that

  2. Is Power Chan going to have a lot of screen time in “The Great Five Eunuchs”? Love to see him acting Pang Sam Shun. Hope that he will win the Best Supporting Actor in 2013.

  4. I am shocked. Either the writer made a mistake or he is definitely youthful. Like Jimmy Lin, a baby face !!

  9. OMG! He’s so well kept! I thought he’s late 30s only! Jaw still dropping…

I hope all 5 return actually… On second thought maybe not Raymond Wong. His character was kinda annoying.

Really enjoy Power and this Raymond’s portrayal of their characters… But they might split the votes for best supporting… Hmmm….

  10. that’s a mistake, there is no way he is 50. He is probally 40. Besides, his wife had a baby recently and they not that much apart in ages. These writers need to do their homework first. Wikipedia says he’s 50 but again, impossible.

  11. Even 47 is a stretch, remember anyone can write anything on wiki
