“The Journey of Flower” Sequel Reportedly to Star New Cast

The speculation of a The Journey of Flower <花千骨> sequel has been ongoing since as early as 2015, when the first series aired. As one of the most popular dramas that year, the xianxia drama was credited to be the drama reviving Wallace Huo’s (霍建華) career, and pushing Zanilia Zhao (赵丽颖) as the highest-earning television actress in the nation.

Now that a sequel has been partially confirmed for sources, fans are excited to know that they won’t have to wait long. However, there is a high possibility that the sequel won’t feature the original cast at all—Wallace has already turned down the offer to return, and while Zanilia was reportedly contracted to return, she later dropped out due to her sudden pregnancy and hiatus.

According to reports, Lin Gengxin (林更新) will be replacing Wallace as the male lead, although Mark Chao (趙又廷) was rumored at one point. Producers have also reportedly courted pop idol Lu Han (鹿晗) to star in a supporting role.

As for the female lead replace Zanilia, reports have dropped Jelly Lin (林允) and Sophie Zhang (张雪迎) as possibilities.
