The Three Most Important Women in Oscar Leung’s Life
In order to avoid the compacted Mother’s Day dim sum crowd on Sunday, Oscar Leung (梁烈唯) decided to move forward his Mother’s Day brunch celebration a day earlier. Now that Oscar has managed to accumulate some free time, he wanted to spend as much time as he could with his two mothers.
Oscar proclaimed that there are three women who are most important to him in his life – his mother, his aunt, and his girlfriend, Tina. “I am fortunate to have two mothers who care for me.”
The 34-year-old actor expressed that whenever he had financial troubles, it was his aunt who would lend a helping hand; she knew Oscar lived far from work, and suggested him to live with her at her home so he would not have to commute at a far distance.
“I must give something in return!” exclaimed Oscar. As he pondered whether to treat them to a dinner to purchase them some gifts, his mother suggested dinner, while his aunt told Oscar that she would rather get a bouquet of flowers. Oscar decided to do both.
What did Oscar do that touched them the most? His mother said, “I remember that on the premiere of his first movie, I cried. When he did his first stage production, I also cried. The tears were of happiness, because I really think my son is a great performer. Oscar’s aunt said, “I was in tears when he won the Most Improved Actor award. It was such an exciting moment.”
Oscar had always been a performer for most of his life. He already expressed his hopes to join the entertainment industry at a young age. He also idolized Alan Tam (譚詠麟), and had memorized most of the lyrics to his songs by the time he entered high school. Oscar’s aunt found it incredible that Oscar is now Alan’s soccer teammate.
“Oscar was really lively and loved to perform when he was a child,” said his aunt. “He likes to pretend he’s a thief or a cop. One time, when he was just a few years old, he pretended that he was robbing a bank – he even pretended that he was holding a gun with his hands! It frightened us.”
Being the youngest child, the Tiger Cubs star was quite a hassle to take care of when he was younger, but he matured quickly. Even before he shot to fame, Oscar tried to save as much money as he could out of his meager TVB salary to rent a bigger home for his parents.
“What I want most in the world is to see my parents living comfortably. I am now able to do that.” As for his aunt, Oscar said, “She gave me a lot of her love. It’s something that you cannot repay with money. I am so thankful to have her in my life. She has kids herself, so it is fate! Right now, I want to spend as much time as I can with her, and achieve new successes in my career.”
Oscar’s two mothers expressed their wishes to see greater advancement in Oscar’s career, but stressed that health and happiness is what is most important.
