“The Uncanny Counter 2” Returns with New Faces
2020 Korean superhero-flavored drama The Uncanny Counter is getting its second season with original cast Jo Byung-gyu,Kim Sejeong, Yoo Jun-sang, Choi Yoon-young and Yeom Hye Ran reuniting onscreen!
A fan favorite based on webtoon storyline, season one was the highest-rated original series on cinematic network OCN, breaking its own record to set a new high of 10.99% in its finale episode. The action-packed fantasy drama centers on a group of demon hunters or “Counters”, each with their own special abilities, who disguise themselves as staff of a noodle cafe to hunt down rogue demons who prey on humans.
Scheduled to air on tvN by June 2023, script reading for the much awaited second season is slated for this month and filming expected to kick off in November. Original cast members are confirmed to be reuniting for the 12-episode sequel, much to fans’ delight, while the crew has also approached new performers including Beyond Evil’s Kim Hieora, who will play an evil spirit, Jin Seok-Kyu (Confidential Assignment 2: International and Through The Darkness), and Kang Ki-Young, who rose in popularity as senior attorney Jung Myung-seok in hit drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
