“The War of Beauties” Begin Filming

Hoping to diversify filming subjects, TVB executives Eric Tsang (曾志偉) and Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) have been pitching new variety show and drama ideas inspired by international entertainment. Film director and screenwriter Patrick Kong (葉念琛) has been invited to helm the newest TVB project, War of the Beauties <美麗戰場>, which mirrors the highly successful Korean drama, The Penthouse.

While preparing for War of the Beauties, the production crew has remained tightlipped about any details regarding the project, which piqued the public’s interest. The 20-episode drama has just commenced filming, and the cast and crew have finally began sharing some details and posted photos on social media, revealing some of the cast members and film settings.

Rumored couple Jeannie Chan (陳瀅) and Alex Fong (方力申) will share a romantic storyline in the drama. Other actors include Joel Chan (陳山聰), Moon Lau (劉佩玥), Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗), Angel Chiang (蔣家旻), and Hera Chan (陳曉華).

The story starts 20 years ago, explaining how the female leads’ sisterhood began. Bonding over their love and fandom of Leslie Cheung (張國榮), the girls maintain their friendship over the years, sharing in love, loss, friendship, and family.

Supporting actress Griselda Yeung (楊卓娜) shared a photo of herself with fellow actor, Carlo Ng (吳家樂). Responding to the media on her role, Griselda said, “The backdrop [of the photo] is from the year 2000. We are wearing sweaters, platform shoes, and cropped pants that are reflective of that time period.” Starring in an antagonistic role this time, Griselda explained that it is much more different than her usual soft spoken motherly roles. “This character is really different from the roles I’ve portrayed in the past. I am very happy to have this opportunity. It is a great chance for me to have a breakthrough. I’ll reveal a little about my character… I have to smoke cigarettes a lot!”
